So I want Shubure to be able to write, but I was having trouble reconciling accounts of writitng in Mesopotamia. Firstly, writing was invented by Nisaba, the patron goddess of scribes. Then apparently only rich young men and princesses learned to write, but also there are records of the cloistered priestesses of the sun god writting things (and being paid extremely meagerly) AND writing slaves who were given to noble ladies as wedding gifts sometimes. So was scribal school a super upperclass thing or something for slaves? So I kind of figured, most of the tablets they find in Ur III are like 'receipt of 150 goats for the temple from Adad-Suen' or whatever, so you don't need to be super smart to write that kinda stuff I guess. Also scribal school also taught scribes to survey land, speak Sumerian and mathematics, so maybe that's what separated a ~scribe~ from a writing slave. Oh yeah another one of Shubure's duties is recording Lady Lady's contracts and receipts. Also that douche guy, while writing this story I have like a placeholder "bad guy" who I had as an older priest, but maybe he can be kinda a little older than her. He's trying to get power, she's trying to get power, and she's just a loser while he is high class AND HE WILL NOT STAND FOR IT! So I think he and some other priest will try to undermine horses and Shubure will try to make an ode to make them sound cooler. ~Propoganda~
