Paper Flowers by Shubnum Khan
Shanghai Diaries
An evening was spent in a beautiful, cozy room of a quaint building, under the charming mobiles made of dried roses and Shubnum’s sweet voice reading melancholic pieces from her ongoing novel “Paper Flowers”. A gentle but sufficient light shone on her while we huddled around, listened and immersed in the reading, adding so much atmosphere to her already moody writing. If only every Friday was made of memories and melancholia!
Shubnum khan is a South African-Indian author, who published her first novel “Onion Tears” in 2011 with Penguin Random House and is working on the second one here in Shanghai as an artist in residence at Swatch Art Peace Hotel. @shubnumkhan looking forward to reading all of Paper Flowers. :)
