“Stonewall” Bench by AATISMO,

There is a technique known as dry stone walling, in which stone walls are built without using mortar or concrete, but only by the weight of the stones and their interlocking.

Despite the ease of their construction, if the stones are stacked properly, they are extremely long-lasting. Even if they collapse due to earthquakes or heavy rains, they can be quickly repaired by local people themselves. It was a familiar technique in people’s lives at that time.

When piling tall stonewalls, iron rods called “shousen” are inserted into the gaps between the stones, and a board is passed over them to provide a temporary scaffold for piling stones even higher.

“Well duh! Yer my girlfriend Sakura-chan,” Naruto exclaims. He gathers her up in his arms and draws her toward him. Lifting her off the ground, Naruto spins them around with a laugh. Excited at sneaking this meeting with her.  Settling Sakura back on her feet, he keeps her close against him. A soft sigh leaves him as he presses face against her neck. When Sakura’s fingers begin to run through his hair, he shivers and begins to nuzzle her. His hands slide up and down her sides as he hums in delight. 

“Mmm, you should just have a short shift and come back with me after our lunch date,” he murmurs against her skin. Pressing a kiss to her neck, Naruto regrettably draws back from their hold. He slides his hands up to her arms, unlocks them from his neck and brings them down between them. Though he doesn’t release them, lacing their hands together. Then they stand there, staring at each other. A smile resting on both their expressions. 

Naruto grins at her before ducking his head. He feels heat surface to his cheeks. Peeking at Sakura from under lashes, he speaks. 

“Still kind of hard to believe we’re a thing, yanno?” He brings up their laced hands and kisses her knuckles with affection. It’s hard to hold back! Every time he thinks about them, he’s just overcome with all this affection. 

Releasing one of her hands, he rubs the back of his head. 

“So, should we get going on our lunch date?” He asks, keeping his promise to take her out before he left for his two-week long mission.

He pokes his head inside her office, a grin settles on his face. Man what a difference it is seeing someone else on that seat. Sakura doesn’t look like she’s breaking a sweat going over the documents before her!

Naruto looks at her extended pinky, she already knows his true promises are created no other way. That’s why he can’t lift his hand to meet hers. 

The words hang between them like a heavy weight. Before he can say it, the way her green eyes register his answer leave him with no words. He watches as her hand wavers, trying to resist the wave of his rejection. Ultimately she lets it get submerged and it returns to her side. 

Naruto tears his eyes away from her. Throat full of unspoken words, none of them with the power to mend what he just broke. 

       there’s a weak knock on the uchiha door, a pale yamanaka too afraid to look up standing on her doorstep. he’s been like this since the chuunin exams.
