ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, this is such a good concept. the two of them finally talking about their issues, working through their conflict, and reconciling their relationship. but it’s just so badly handled and it pisses me off so much, like
PETER was the one who hurt and traumatized the symbiote over and over again.
PETER was the one who actively refused to try to understand and empathize with the symbiote.
PETER was the one who kept fighting it and treating it like a monster even when it did nothing wrong.
and yet the SYMBIOTE is somehow at fault for lashing out? it’s somehow a monster just because it dared to respond negatively to being treated like actual garbage by the person it loved the most? and the symbiote is somehow responsible for taking the first step to take moral high ground and apologize for its actions?
meanwhile peter is just allowed to continue being an obstinate asshole? he doesn’t have to take responsibility for his role in the conflict? he doesn’t have to apologize for being such a cruel bastard? he’s just allowed to think that all the responsibility for growth was on the “evil” symbiote to stop being so evil? despite the fact that it was never like that, and only ended up being evil because of a self-fulfilling prophecy that peter himself created by remorselessly treating them like shit?
