recently followed your twitter and saw your haircut picture and first, cute! Youâre lovely! Second, Iâm gonna sound like a dumbass but Iâm so used to associating you with kagehina icons that I like forgot you had a face ._. Donât take this as an insult (I hope not please oh gosh) this is more so to explain how stupid I am and how much I love your hair ok well this was a mess byeee sorry for this lmao
oh my god no donât apologize and i donât take that as an insult xD thank you very much, first of all :D this is what i woke up to this morning and it felt GOOD đđ and second, i literally had the EXACT SAME THOUGHT LAST WEEK?? about associating people with their icons!?? i almost made a post ab it too, like i know these are people with noses and lips attached to their awesome personalities and posts, but procedurally they are vague, nebulous entities wearing cardboard cutout masks of their characters like some hastily assembled low-rent masquerade. the internet is wild xD
ok but now iâm thinking about a kagehina modern day masquerade ball au where they meet and fall in love Ă la romeo and juliet and its kind of obvious what hinata really looks like without his mask, because of his hair and height and personality, so heâs completely recognizable, but kags is a different story, maybe his face is more obscured by his mask, maybe hinata is just Dumb, but after a night of dancing and mostly Lewd Behavior in a broom closet, oikawa and tsukishima whisk kageyama away for some reason or another before hinata finds out kageyamaâs name (this is literally what happens in romeo and juliet, right? itâs been a while) so he laments his life and masturbates to death later that night, and on monday before leading his Business Meeting (high-power exec hinata? i think so) heâs sobbing to yachi or kenma about the party and how devastated he is that heâll never know who the man of his dreams is but he has an Important Meeting to lead now so he puts the mourning on hold, and then 5 minutes into the meeting, while hinata is in the midst of his presenation, the new junior accountant comes in, his head ducked and mumbling apologies for being late, so hinata stops talking and narrows his eyes at him and says something douchey like âthanks for joining us, kageyama,â but his eyes linger an extra second on the man who joined the company only, like, a month ago, and he feels his cheeks start to warm, but thereâs no way, but memories of strong, urgent hands oh him come flooding back, kicking up butterflies in his stomach and a whole lot of remorse, so he clears his head and gets back to his presentation. but his eyes keep drifting to the new guy⌠who, by the way, isnât avoiding his gaze or anything, he isnât staring at hinata, either. heâs acting obnoxiously normal, and it irritates the shit out of hinata that he isnât, like, showing even the smallest amount of shame for being late to his presentation. hinata remains irked for hours after, brooding in his office and looking out onto the sea of cubicles through the glass wall, scowling at the small tuft of black hair he can see peeking over one of the partitions as kageyama works away. and then without a plan or reason in place, hinata is on the intra-office phone line, dialing kageyamaâs extension.
âkageyama,â kageyama answers.
hinata is caught off guard momentarily - half from his lack of forethought and half from kageyamaâs deep, rumbling voice. âi, uh, can you come in here a second?â hinata gets out. he clears his throat and takes on his most authoritative tone. âiâd like to speak with you.â
thereâs a pause, and then,
âsorry, who is this?â
hinata huffs out a flustered breath, taken aback. âyour boss,â he puffs, eyes narrowed at the crown of shiny black hair.
âwhich⌠ohââ kageyama stands up in his cubicle, looking lost, first turning towards the break room and then slowly pivoting, scanning the entire office before finally facing hinataâs direction. when they make eye contact through the glass, hinata tips the phone away from his head and gives a look of âduh you colossal idiotâ. he goes to hang up the phone, but then he sees kageyamaâs lips move.
hinata pulls the phone back to his ear. âwhat?â
ânow?â kageyama presumably repeats.
hinata blinks. âyes, now.â
thereâs another pause, and kageyama slowly glances around. and then,
hinata sputters wordlessly and dumbly, because the guy has the nerve to sound annoyed. but also because hinata has absolutely no reason for why.
âjust get in here!â he hisses before smacking the phone back into the hook. he watches kageyama recoil from the receiver in his own hand before looking down at it. he hangs up, too, and slowly makes his way down the aisles, weaving towards hinataâs office.
but now hinata is like one blood-pressure point away from full blown panic, because he has absolutely nothing to say to this guy, and now heâs pissy, and he didnât get to where he is now in the field without realizing that anxiety and anger donât make for a good combination for business discourse. but kageyama is his subordinate, so thinking quickly, with his brain, hinata scans his office with wild eyes, knowing heâll find a good enough reason for summoning kageyama if he just focuses for one second. his eyes land on the phone, and already seemingly forgetting the lesson heâs in the midst of learning about thinking before doing, he jumps up and his hand shoots out, sending several papers flying and his office phone clattering to the carpet, right as kageyama opens the door.with his palms flat on the desk, hinata watches kageyama cock an eyebrow at a piece of paper that flutters to join the rest of the mess. hinata swallows when their eyes meet.âyou wanted me?ââi doâ i mean, yes, i uh,â hinata clears his throat. âmy phone,â he says, pointing to the item on the floor. âitâs⌠in need of repair.âkageyama keeps his eyes on hinataâs face, expression unchanged aside from a couple of eye blinks. a couple seconds pass, and hinata can feel his mouth drying out at the silence. but then kageyama moves, shutting the door behind him and then walking forward, his eyes pinned to hinata, looking away only when he stoops to retrieve the base and receiver from where they fell. blankly studying hinataâs face, he replaces the phone on the desk, gently clicking the receiver back onto the hook. âanything else?â he asks. hinataâs mouth gapes and shuts, eyes blinking from the phone to kageyamaâs bored, vaguely irritated expression. âi-i mean itâs broken!â hinata waves his hand at the thing, âi need a new one.ââyou just called me on it,â kageyama points out, slipping his hands into his pockets. âwell, yeah! thatâs how i know itâs broken.âkageyama nods slowly. âso the call you made to me about the phone being broken,â he says slowly, âis what led you to find out that the phone is broken.â âYes,â hinata says, narrowing his eyes. âand⌠after talking to me on the broken phone, you threw it on the floor.âHinata plops back down into his chair, scrubbing a hand down his warm face before crossing his arms over his chest and glaring over at kageyama. âi just need it fixed!â he asserts. âright,â kageyama rolls his tongue in his cheek. âsoâŚâ kageyama pulls a hand from his pocket and fingers at the laminate clipped to the lanyard around his neck, looking down and squinting as he flips it front to back. he does this for a while - long enough for hinata to sigh a breath out his nose and ask,âwhat are you doing?ââtrying to see where it says âPhone Repairmanâ,â he says, dropping it back into place. He looks again at hinata, leaning a hand on his desk. âsorry, until i get a new badge i donât think i can help you.âhinata is speechless. mostly at the audacity, but mostly at the way the long fingers of that hand are slowly, almost silently drumming over the fine wood. and a flash of a lust-addled memory illuminates in his mindââf-feelsâ ahâ so goodâ d-donât stopâ please donât stopâââquiet, dumbass,â a low voice rumbles in his ear, a warm, solid chest, pressing hinataâs sweat damp costume shirt against his hot skin, âthe music isnât that loudââand then there are long, sturdy fingers sliding into his gasping mouth, over his kiss-raw lips and wet, panting tongue, and as the aforementioned music hits a swirling crescendo at the party on the other side of the wall, so, too, does hinata, his pleasure spiking him into near delirium, his toes curl in his fine shoes, a fist twists into black hair, and his teeth clamp down ontoâontoâŚhis eyes stay glued to the two marred fingers as they tap away, small, fading bruises stand ring-like just above the second knuckle. hinataâs stomach swoops and he looks up.deep blue eyes stare back at him and kageyama drags his bottom lip through his teeth. âwell,â he says quietly, hungrily, almost, as he takes his hand off the desk, âlet me know if youâll be needing anything else, boss.â he takes a few steps backwards, and then turns and lets himself out of the office. iâm not sure what just happened. i think i was relying to an ask about twitter? huh. anyway :D thank you, anon! iâm feeling good today!
