Tofu steaks made with only 5 ingredients are a quick and easy vegan dinner idea that's great for a weeknight. The charred shishito salsa goes well with the grilled tofu because it is smoky and sour.
Ingredients: 2 blocks firm tofu, pressed and sliced into steaks. 1 cup shishito peppers, stems removed. 1 tablespoon olive oil. 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice. Salt and pepper, to taste.
Instructions: Warm up the grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add salt and pepper to the tofu steaks after brushing them with olive oil. Tofu steaks should be grilled for three to four minutes on each side, or until grill marks appear. Char shishito peppers in a grill basket for 5 to 7 minutes, tossing them every now and then. Place the charred peppers on a cutting board and cut them into small pieces. Cut up shishito peppers and put them in a bowl with lime juice and a pinch of salt. Put charred shishito salsa on top of grilled tofu steaks to serve.
