Ok, this is sort of like the last question, but I need to know for a HoO rewrite. As a love interest for Reyna, between: A child of Venus who is genuinely kind and heroic, but dislikes their Roman side because they doesn't like how the half-bloods/legacies often get saddled with the gods' problems, their mother isn't that respected, and dislikes how biased Camp Jupiter can be against children depending on who their godly parents are (i.e. praising children of Jupiter, hating children of Pluto and children of Neptune), but defends the camp anyway and its people because they still care and don't want anyone to get hurt. Or A child of Neptune who is kind and has a bit of a rebellious nature (like Poseidon said, "the sea hates being restrained"), but as nice as they are, they're scared to trust the people of Camp Jupiter since they see children of Neptune as bad omens, but at the same time, don't mind keeping them as assets. Overall, just wants to be cared about as a person, not as a bad omen or an asset.
I'd definitely go with the first.
Reyna is praetor, the hand of camp, literally the embodiment of it. And we've seen in SON how she can let some things slide to maintain camp's stability, if not perfect peace.
I don't think the child of Neptune you describe would really want to be friend with Reyna in the first place, knowing how inaccessible she is, you'd have to want to befriend her to get close to her.
While Reyna isn't one to discriminate, she judges people on their abilities, not godly parent (as we've seen with Percy or even Hazel quickly enough). She would respect your child of Venus for her strength and dedication and I easily see them becoming friend if the child of Venus was to become centurion. Reyna would love to see someone supposedly "weak" prove everyone wrong and she would respect them immensely.
(And yes I kinda have a Roman!Piper fic in mind when I describe all of that)
That's how I'd do it but I firmly believe that any good writer can make everything work😁
