Anayeli lets out a shaky breath, looking down at her hands. She won’t look up at him, but her gaze is very rarely met as it is. There’s still a fear that she’ll see His eyes instead of Brian’s.

Anayeli thought back to the evening before her so-called abduction. She pursed her lips, remember the way she blew off her half-sister when she said not to go to the hospital. And why? Because Olivia was just being superstitious, because she was wrong. She knew nothing.

And Abel… she had been distant with him. How was she supposed to talk to someone that she hadn’t spoken to in years? What was she supposed to say?

Anayeli rubbed her arm, dropping her gaze from Brian.

Anayeli walked back into her room after another scheduled visit to the windowed sitting room, helping herself back into bed. The nurse was busying herself, talking about dinner being served in an hour, how nice the weather was outside. Anayeli tuned her out, for the most part, but gave subtle nods here and there. She didn't want to listen right now.

"...By the way, Brian L'avalé is going to step in in a moment. He's a counselor. Your doctor suggested that he should see you."

The woman raised her head, frowning at the nurse. She had been trying to avoid this situation, straining herself to stay up just so that she wouldn't have to deal with the nightmares that always seemed to get the nurses to pry at her. Maybe she hadn't tried hard enough.
