These past two days have been very emotional for me. Raneem El Welily was not merely a fellow player, Raneem has been my companion through my squash journey for as long as I can remember, she became family. Every happy moment, every challenging moment, she was by my side.

Raneem, I honestly find it very difficult to picture being on tour without you. You have taught me so much on a personal and professional level.

While I can’t help but express how terribly missed you will be, I am extremely happy and excited for this next chapter of your life, which I know I will always be a part of.

Thank you for everything you gave this game and for everything you gave me. Thank you for your sportsmanship and for being the best travel companion I could ask for.

Nour El Sherbini

Egypt’s World #2 Nour El Sherbini has withdrawn from this week’s FS Investments U.S. Open Squash Championships after failing to recover from a knee injury.

The reigning World Champion was forced to withdraw from last month’s Oracle NetSuite Open due to the same injury but has been unable to recover in time for the first PSA Platinum event of the season.

The withdrawal means that France’s Camille Serme replaces El Sherbini in the draw and is now the secon seed, while Nour El Tayeb replaces Serme.

As a result, Wales’ Tesni Evans takes El Tayeb’s place in the draw and receives a bye in round one.

Hong Kong’s Joey Chan moves into Evans’ place in the draw and now receives a bye in round one, with France’s Coline Aumard to face Malaysia’s Sivasangari Subramaniam in round one. Meanwhile, Hong Kong's Lee Ka Yi is brought into the main draw and will face Mille Tomlinson in round one.

In the men’s draw, Malaysia’s Eain Yow Ng has also withdrawn from the tournament in Philadelphia, which means that Egypt's Karim El Hammamy will take his place in the draw and face England’s Adrian Waller in round one.

Alison knew what to expect. The World Champ (3 times) just back home, in front of her crowd… Appart from SarahJane Perry, not many voices were shouting COME ON ALI…. Nour dominated the first game, extremely assertive and ruthless, it took her 7m to lead 1/0, 11/5. The second was much disputed, from the start, not much between the players up to 8/8. Game ball for the World Champ, 10/8, a stroke and a tin take care of that, 10/10, but two exquisite winners later, and it’s 12/10 to Nour, with 9 winners overall, against 4 for Ali… The last game, Nour is flying and just retrieves everything but the kitchen sink that Ali throws at her with great success, 8/0, 10/2, 11/3…

Nour It’s never easy playing Alison. She has been playing for a long time and it’s always tough playing her.

Egyptian squash stars Nour El-Sherbini and Ali Farag have snatched the women and men’s PSA World Championship titles in Chicago early Sunday.

Two-time champion and world number two El-Sherbini faced a tough test to snatch the title as she defeated her compatriate Nour El-Tayeb in 57 minutes 3-1 (11-6, 11-5, 10-12 and 15-13).

“I think I’m out of words!” El-Sherbini said after the game.
