A carefree night of drinking on the terrace is interrupted when Shi Qingxuan overhears a crook hassling a poor villager. After a quick and decisive intervention, he invites the villager to join him. Luckily enough, He Xuan was exactly the company he needed. And in more ways than one.
Excerpt:
He Xuan wasn't going to stop. Shi Qingxuan needed to let go or drown. Shi Qingxuan was unsure what terrified him more, the thought of suffocating in the dark waters, or the thought of letting this ghost of his late lover go, never to see him again.Â

"I'll take the bed, but you're getting in too. I'm not letting my friend sleep on the floor! Especially after you saved my life!"Â
Ming Yi stared at him and Shi Qingxuan blushed but held his gaze. "I'm not taking no for an answer. If you refuse and sleep on the floor, I'll sleep on top of you."
Being Human Chapter 22: A Wonderful Day For Disaster
Shiki walked around to stand in front of the couch and looked between the two âIzayasâ with a blank stare, âOkay then. Which one is the real Izaya.â
âThat would be me, Shiki-san. And I can-â
âSecond question, who are you?â Shiki prompted, looking straight at Roppi.
The doubleâs eyes dropped to the floor, ââŠRoppi.â
âThatâs not an answer, boy. Whatâs your full name? Where are you from?â
Shingen coughed uncomfortably, âAh, Shiki-san, couldnât we discuss this later? Roppi-kun was just helping me disassemble the bomb. Doesnât that take priority over this little interview?â
Shikiâs seething eyes pinned on Shingen, âActually, letting an unknown near the weapon seems like the opposite of a good idea. This kid could be working for Yodogiri for all I know. And on top of that, you donât seem fazed by these two. Iâm assuming you knew about this then?â
Shingen fumbled for an answer, but Izaya smoothly cut him off, âRoppiâs past is completely erased, I saw to that. He was a nobody who was willing to be my double. I approached him with the proposal, not the other way around. Shingen helped with the surgery.â
âIzaya, you should know by now that when I interrogate a group of people, and someone I didnât ask answers instead, I find that highly suspicious.â
âYes Iâm well aware. But Iâm on a bit of a schedule and it looks like your people need these two as well. How about you just make this easy on yourself, and just stick a few more guards on us as we go about our business?â
Everyone in the room glared at him, including Roppi and probably Shingen as well, under his mask.
Being Human Chapter 23: End Of A Life, End Of A Lie
Shizuo was at the window in an instant. Below, the two of them could see a figure below, running away.
It was Izaya.
A twinge of fear ran through Roppi as he felt Shizuo growl in fury. Without a warning, Shizuo jumped out of the window with Roppi coming along for the fall. Roppiâs yelp was drowned out by the nostalgic yell of Ikebukuroâs strongest.
Being Human Chapter 20: Catching A Snake By Its Tail
âSuch a gentleman. Fine, Iâll be sure to tell you the next time Yodogiri tries anything.â Izaya smirked. His smile dropped immediately as he spotted Roppi turn the corner over Shizuoâs shoulder. His twin froze as soon as he spotted who was with Izaya.
âThat idiot! Didnât he get my message?â
âYou better. Good night, flea.â Shizuo said as he turned to leave.
In a panic, Izaya grabbed his face and pulled it back. Shizuo stumbled towards him. The raven pulled him down and sealed his lips over his. It wasnât his best plan, but he needed to distract the thick-headed blonde long enough for Roppi to make a break for it.
Izaya opened one eye to peer over Shizuoâs shoulder to see if his twin had fled yet.
He hadnât. He stood there looking at the two of them in shock, his eyes brimming in confusion and an another unidentifiable emotion.

Prompt: Kagamiâs birthday and Kuroko tries his hardest to make a cake but it doesnât work that well
Message: Iâm soooooo sorry for being late T-T. I couldnât decide between making a fic or a picture, so I ended up doing both. Thank you for participating for the @kagakuroexchange and I hope you like it hun! Again, so sorry for making you wait OTL
âNigou, down.â Kuroko chided, shooing the small dog that curiously sniffed at the cake he pulled out of the oven. But he was glad the puppy didnât turn tail and run away from the smell this time. It was encouraging.
This was attempt number five.
The recipe was from his grandmother, who baked the most delicious cakes for his birthday. They were soft, moist and smelt rich with vanilla. Every bite was like heaven.
And Kuroko wanted to bake it himself for his boyfriendâs birthday.
But, it seemed that he didnât get all the necessary information to bake it properly, such as: what order to mix the ingredients together, or how long to bake it in the oven. It wasnât that Kuroko was a bad cook; he just hadnât baked by himself before, and he didnât know these things. During the first attempt, the cake set off the smoke alarm and was burnt to a crisp. The second attempt, he didnât keep it in the oven long enough, and was still runny in the middle. He stuck it back in and ended up burning that too. The third attempt, Kuroko kept opening the oven door to check on it, determined not to burn this one too. Instead, the cake deflated. On the fourth attempt, Kuroko resorted to looking up how long to bake it on his phone. Everything seemed like it was fine, until Kuroko sampled it, and gagged. Turns out heâs been mixing up the sugar and the salt jars all this time.
Kuroko carefully sliced a small piece off the top of the cake and took a tentative bite. It was slightly tougher than how his grandmother makes it, but it was good. If anything, the center would be moist. Right?
Kuroko smiled in satisfaction and got the ingredients to make the icing.
Turns out, Kuroko was worse at decorating than baking.
The pieces he cut for the tiers were uneven and lopsided, his piping technique non-existent, and to top it off, he didnât realize he had to wait for the cake to cool completely before frosting. So naturally, the icing was melting off.
Kuroko pouted. ÂÂHe didnât expect this to be so hard.
âI donât think Kagami-kun is going to be very impressed with this, Nigou.â
âImpressed with what?â
Kuroko jumped as he heard his loverâs voice next to his ear. âK-Kagami-kun! Donât scare me like that.â
âYouâre one to talk. Always appearing out of nowhere.â Kagami chuckled and placed a kiss on his shadowâs cheek as he wrapped his hands around his waist. âIâm home.â
âI didnât hear you come in.â Kuroko chided lightly as he tried to block the taller maleâs sight from what he was working on, with no avail.
âI did call out, but you didnât answer. I guess you were too focused onâŠthat?â Kagami guessed, tilting his head slightly as he got a better look at the cake on the table. A warm smile spread across his face as he understood what his boyfriend was up to. âDid you make that for me?â
Kuroko blushed, âIt was supposed to be a surprise for your birthday. Itâs not ready yetâŠand it turned out to be a disaster.â
âWhat? No wayâŠso what if itâs a little lopsided, and melting, and you missed a spot there-oof!â
Kagami rubbed his stomach from where Kuroko elbowed him.
âIâm kidding, Iâm kidding. I love it Kuroko, really. Especially the little basketballs you decorated on it. Nice touch.â
ââŠthose are tigers.â
âOhâŠreally? Oh, wait I see it now. The whiskersâŠor stripes. Theyâre cute.â Kagami bit his lip, trying not to chuckle.
âIf Kagami-kun keeps laughing, you wonât get a slice.â
âIâm not laughing.â Kagami snickered, as he hugged Kuroko tighter, âYouâre just so cute, Kuroko. To go through all this trouble for me. You put so much effort. I really appreciate it.â
Kuroko fidgeted, feeling shy all of a sudden, âItâs really nothing, Kagami-kun. I just wanted to do something special for you on your birthday. It just didnât come out as planned.â
âI donât know about you, but I donât judge a cake by how it looks,â Kagamiâs lips pulled into a teasing smirk as he licked a smear of icing off of Kurokoâs cheek. âItâs the taste that counts, right?â
Kuroko felt his cheeks glow again, âIâŠsuppose.â
âFeed me?â The taller male requested innocently, though eyes sparked with mischief, like an overgrown child. And Kuroko couldnât refuse him, not with that hopeful look on his face.
He cut off a piece of cake, turned to face him fully and lifted it to his loverâs lips.
Kagami took a small bite, âMmmâŠsweet,â he complimented as he went in for a bigger, messy bite, taking Kurokoâs fingers in his mouth as well.
Kuroko gasped in surprise and giggled, âKagami-kun!â
âM fâorry, Iâf was jusâ âfo tasty,â he grinned and swallowed, his lips smeared with icing, âI wanted to make sure I got all of it.â
Kagami leaned forward, licking his lips, âYou should really try this icing.â
Kuroko smiled, âIf you insist.â
He stood on his toes and captured his boyfriendâs lips between his own. He sucked lightly, savouring the taste of the sweet frosting with a hint of vanilla. Kagami gave a content sigh and pressed their lips together more firmly. His tongue slipped into Kurokoâs mouth, giving him more of that sugary taste. Kuroko let out a soft moan, as Kagami ran his tongue over and under his own. Kagamiâs large hands gripped his hips and lifted him on to the table. Kuroko leaned back on his elbow and swiped a large glob of icing off the cake. He gave his finger a sensual lick, enjoying how his partnerâs eyes were glued on him. Without further prompting, Kagami closed the distance between them again, pressing his body further against the table.
Kagami hungrily lapped up more icing from his lips, as if the taste was the most addictive thing he knew.
âMaybe,â Kuroko thought to himself, âIâm not that bad at baking after all.â
Being Human Chapter 8: People You Just Donât Mess With
He waited for an impact to land, but it never came. He slowly opened his eyes to see that the thugs stood frozen, staring at something behind him, beyond the fence. That's when he heard an ominous voice from somewhere above his head.
"Found you, I-za-ya-kuuuuun"
Roppi felt an inexplicable chill at those words. He tilted his head upwards and tried to focus his blurry eyes. He saw two large hands gripping at the fence. The hands suddenly pulled at the fence, the metal bending under their grip obediently.
Was he really seeing that?
Roppi, in his slightly delirious state, watched in fascination as the hands yanked the crushed fence straight from the ground. Without any support on his back, he fell backwards, to the feet of the owner of those amazingly strong hands.
