   It  had  been  almost  TWO  months  of  Jones'  respite  in  Palmview,  time  couldn't  have  moved  slower.  Yet,  here  they  were,  having  to  make  yet  another  decision  about  their  career  --  alone.  She  wasn't  used  to  it  still,  this  internal  process  that  was  not  easily  shared  with  many.  Looking  out  to  the  ocean,  watching  the  sun  set,  reminded  her  another  day  was  about  to  come  to  pass.  If  her  parents  were  here,  what  would  they  say?

   The  more  time  that  passed  Jones  wondered  if  she  was  making  up  their  voices  in  her  head  or  if  she  still  could  actually  remember  them  the  way  they  were.  The  recordings,  the  pictures,  the  memories  were  all  she  had  left  --  she  could  only  parse  together  p  i  e  c  e  s  of  what  they  would  tell  her  now.  Putting  together  those  pieces  herself  was  a  process  too  AGONIZING  to  do  alone  --  yet  she  did.  The  fear  of  letting  others  in,  to  rely  on  them,  for  them  to  die  on  her  was  still  fresh  in  her  psyche  as  much  as  she  loathed  to  admit  it.  Powerless  and  pathetic  is  what  it  felt,  these  last  few  months  felt  the  same  at  it's  lowest.  This  beach  felt  too  big,  the  ocean's  vastness  usually  comforting  in  the  sea  of  her  own  troubles.  Her  emotions  were  threatening  to  overcome  her  and  that  wasn't  on  the  agenda  --  not  tonight.

   As  Jones  got  up,  she  looked  around  realizing  she  was  not  as  alone  as  she  felt  --  spotting  a  LIFEGUARD  stand  and  someone  actually  in  it.  They  hadn't  noticed  it  on  their  trek  down  but  curiosity  pulled  their  footsteps  towards  it,  until  they  spotted  the  reason  for  the  pull. Even with the usual amount of people around, the noise started to fall away.

   "You  come  here  often?"  For  all  the  jokes  that  Jones  had  made  about  Palmview  being  a  soap  opera  --  they  should've  known  that  they  were  bringing  this  upon  themselves.  "You  know  they've  got  a  TV  show  called  Ex  on  the  Beach.  I've  never  watched  it  but  cuz  thinks  it's  fire."  If  they  were  being  honest  with  themselves?  A  part  of  them  wondered  if  this  was  the  moment  their  brain  finally  decided  to  have  a  mental  breakdown,  hallucinating  Darius  Mensah  of  all  people  in  front  of  them.  "I'm  not...IMAGINING  this  right?  Like,  you're  not  going  to  be  a  hallucination  or  something?  Not  that  I'm  that  type  of  crazy."
