Since I've recently replayed original Mass Effect trilogy, here you have some doodles
This is my initial thoughts on an Arcane and Mass Effect crossover.
The main story belongs to Shepard, I'd never take that away from her.
So, the Arcane inspired story would run alongside the main one. I am moving the Arcane characters into the Mass Effect universe. So, they will need to have background stories that fit their origins but work within that universe.
This will be a Shepard and Garrus pairing. My ship of choice would be Shepard and Liara. But Garrus will be the bridge between the characters. Shepard has the Earth born origin.
Caitlyn is a C-SEC officer. Smart, capable, an excellent shot with a sniper rifle. She's investigating a series of crimes on the citadel, and all clues point to Silco. Her and Garrus are old friends. That will be our connection for the characters to meet.
Vi is going to need some form of training to fit into this universe. Otherwise, the first time she goes up against a real merc, she'll get hurt. So she's a former alliance solider, not N7, I don't think she's disciplined enough for that. She escaped a life of crime on Earth by enlisting with the alliance military. She's not long got out of military prison, disobeying orders and striking a superior officer (bad Intel led to an incident, Vi took that personally). I've gone with the same origin as Shepard. They will have more in common than they first thought, but that will come later. If she can't have the Atlas gauntlets, the next best thing is an Atlas mech pilot.
Silco is a crime lord on the Citadel. They say he has contacts with Cerberus, as well as the shadow broker.
Jinx, Vi's missing sister, is a biotic. It manifests as bursts of incredible speed. Originally kidnapped from Earth, she was going to be sent to a cerberus research facility, but Silco saw potential and recruited her instead.
Sevika is Silco's second in command.
Viktor, in his guise as the machine herald, is a reaper construct. But for now, he's researching alien tech with his lab partner, Jayce.
Mel is a senior diplomat on the citadel and still Ambessa's daughter.
Ambessa is N7, no question, but is she alliance or cerberus? Maybe she's both.
The other characters, I'm not sure about yet.
Vi is on the citadel looking for work. There are always merc recruiters looking for new talent or canon fodder, depending on the job. Caitlyn is investigating Silco, but her boss, Marcus, seems to be constantly stalling her investigation.
She finds a break, and by sheer coincidence, there's someone in the Citadel brig who can help her (it's Vi, of course it's Vi. She was arrested for disturbing the peace, i.e., she got into a fight).

Summary:
Shepard needs the data on the Reapers that's locked up on the Citadel. She also needs a way in past the security and C-Sec. Which is where Garrus comes in. It's a perfect plan. (So why does he look so worried?)
Notes: had the highest of hopes that this would be an ITPE treat for @blackestglass & @avaniesque but it wasn't able to be edited in time. Better late than never, I hope, so I finally got it done! This is part three of the Shekarian space pirates AU, on winds and wild tides!
