you donât need them. Â
but, she does.  you donât need them.Â
   but, she wants them.Â
they were all she had, when flesh was stripped from skeleton, and bones were laid bare. she came from nothing ; she was nothing.  conscripted early to a cause she couldnât understand at thirteen, wandering into the hungry jaws of the MONSTERS seeking only a place to belong. raised in the arms of ferocious beasts that hunger for destruction and death, the great pestilence on the world.Â
it became all she knew. her mind, her body -- what remained of a tattered soul -- all was given to them, for them. those twin entities, those dual horrors upon mankind.  and they loved her, oh,  how they loved her. showering her with graciousness and gifts, MORTEM  gifted her speech and PLAGA,  a home in a body, a bosom to embrace, a shoulder to cry on.Â
she did need them, somewhere in her body. she was a girl with hollow bones and paper thin skin, and how the smallest tragedies could tear her apart. six was not the first, to put into her mind how they were not needed. how they were not the bond for her aching joints, how they did nothing to keep her from splitting in two. the MAD jester thought the very same, wanted her loyalty, all she could give for their nefarious purpose. Â
she wanted them, because she knew without them, she was an empty girl. not once had she lived for herself, had she done something in her best interest. their love became an obsession, their happiness was her every prayer. without the twins -- without the cult -- she would be back to where she had first been. a frightened girl, in a world she could not understand, with nary a friend to her name.Â
and, she simply couldnât accept that. Â
