“She hoped”

The relapse had passed months ago and maintenance was no longer probable; she had fallen for another drug and he was both her loves. So, when she called it was unknown: this truth (until three hours of conversation occurred.) It was never easy to hear that lies had been passed as truths for months, yet the concept of easy was not life sustaining but a lie itself, so she sat and endured the newest truth. She hoped truth meant health and healing and honesty and accountability. She hoped the truth did not simply sound like a consultation regarding companionship intermingled with using. She hoped her friend would hold her hand and help to heal herself such that she could help to heal the world. She hoped she did not hope in vain and delivered fruit snacks prior to sending her to her family. She hoped she said what was necessary to support and encourage a change to endure.
