"i usually try to not get too many snacks at once," was it their need to save money as much as possible, their old eating habits, or just being overwhelmed by all of options they had at their disposal? probably a mix of all three of those things, but they also couldn't remember the last time they went out like this with anyone. maybe in their teens..?

christ, that feels like a lifetime ago.

"but i like getting gummy stuff. twizzlers, worms, those frog-shaped ones that kinda stick to your teeth a little..." if this was any other time, under watchful eyes of government officials that hardly saw them as human, they wouldn't be so talkative.

but ally didn't have to worry about that right now. it was just them and sherry, who they didn't expect to see at this time of night. guess nocturnal behaviors just come with this line of work.
