Speaking of which I really think the only thing that held him together during Wonderland was the fact that the whole place was built to sustain two unstable liches. so he makes it through...by eating the boys’ pain. yikes!

and just what the bell is responsible for in wonderland is up for debate- because the bell itself is such an unknown- but I think it’s safe to assume that the particularly big nasty stuff like erasing memories could probably only be the work of grand relic (the bell is also holding wonderland together, once Magnus retrieves it the whole place comes down)

ANYWAY...yeah. The Bell was used to thoroughly horrible ends we don’t fully understand (though I have a lot of theories) 

this coupled with the implication that Barry just stashed the Bell willingly with the lich twins makes for a whole lot of pain and shit for him to deal with post S&S. and I already think that Barry’s soul is in pretty whack shape by then. 

it’s just a lot. tired old man needs a fucking break.  

I think a lot about him interacting with the boys. Seeing Taako’s disguise spell timer off for a moment before he puts it back on. Magnus faltering when he tries to remember what happened to Julia one night. Merle makes light of it all but...still hurts there too.  

And then Lucretia...my god they have a lot to work through. He’s still angry with her and he can’t even deal with that anger when he’s looking at her.
