background: You’ve been friends with Shawn, as well as Cory, since your best friend Topanga introduced you to them. You immediately hit it off, and the four of you have been friends ever since. But recently, you’ve realized that you might have feelings for Shawn.
author’s note: when it says “your p.o.v” or “topanga’s p.o.v”, it’s more so of the narrator describing their p.o.v. if that makes sense. this is also going to be a three parter, hope you enjoy!
You were at your locker when you felt a tap on your shoulder. Turing back, you immediately smiled, seeing as it just Shawn.
“Hey Y/N/N, Jack’s hosting a party on tonight...wanna go with me?”
“Do you even have to ask? Of course!”
“Great! I’ll, uh, pick you up at 7?”
“Okay,” you said, smiling.
As you closed your locker, you heard Topanga walk up to the lockers.
“Hey Y/N! Hey Shawn!”
“Hey Topanga” “Hey Panga”
“Oh, Shawn, Cory wanted me to tell you to meet him in the cafeteria for something.”
“Alright, I’ll see you guys.”
As you two watched Shawn walk away, Topanga linked her arm with yours.
For the rest of the day, you couldn’t think about anything else. You were so excited to go to the party, and even more so because Shawn asked you to go with him. You couldn’t get home fast enough. Before you knew it, it was 7 and Shawn was ringing the doorbell.
“Honey, Shawn’s here!”
You hurried to put on your shoes and put on the final touches on your outfit before heading down.Â
“Now, what time should we expect Y/N back, Shawn?” your dad asked.
“No later than 10pm.”
“Alright, have fun you two!”
“Bye Dad!” “Bye Mr. Y/L/N!”
The party was great at first: you danced for a bit with Shawn, talked with Cory and Topanga and met a bunch of other people. At some point, you decided you wanted to get some drinks, so you made your way into the kitchen. But once you got back, Shawn wasn’t where you left him. You thought he was just getting something, or talking to people, so you didn’t worry but walked through the house to find him. But a few minutes turned into 10, which turned into 30, which turned to almost an hour. You looked everywhere for him and you were about to give up until you saw him sneak into the bathroom with another girl...while making out.
As you struggled to make your way outside, everything was in a blur. The sound of people talking over the music faded, to the point where everything sounded like you were underwater. You didn’t even realize you were outside until a sudden breeze passed through, causing you to shiver a bit. You debated going home: the party wasn’t going to be fun anymore, but you knew that if you did your parents would ask you why you were back so early and of course, ask about Shawn. So you decided the best thing to do was to wait until it was over. Outside. By yourself.Â
What a way to spend your Friday night.
Not too long after you went outside, it was time for another search. Topanga was starting to get worried because she hasn’t seen you in a bit, and come to think of it, she couldn’t find Shawn either. So she dragged Cory on a little search party to find the two of you. They split up, Topanga looking upstairs, while Cory was looking downstairs. As she’s walking down one of the hallways (this house was m a s s i v e by the way), she heard what sounded like Shawn talking. Curious, she knocked on the door.
“Shawn? Is that you?”
There was a bit of rustling before the door opened, revealing none other than Shawn Hunter...and a girl?
“Y-yeah, what’s up?”
“Have you seen Y/N?” Topanga asked while to peak over Shawn’s shoulder
Shawn had almost gotten the door closed, but Topanga managed to keep it open.
“Well do you know where we could find her?”
“Look, Topanga, I’m a little...preoccupied at the moment. Can’t you just ask Cory?”
“Great! Then you don’t need my help!”
And with that, the door was shut and Topanga could hear the click of the lock and the faint giggles of the girl Shawn was with. She sighed and rolled her eyes as she made her way downstairs.Â
“Hey, Panga, I found her!” Cory said, almost out of breath.
“Really where? And why are you out of breath?”Â
“Outside. And I might have been chased by the neighbor’s dog.”
It was kind of lonely outside. You had been crying for a bit, and you wanted nothing more than to go inside and find Topanga or Cory and go to their houses. But you were determined to stay where you were so you wouldn’t run into...Shawn. Staying out in the cold had actually proven useful though. You couldn’t understand why Shawn would ask you to go to the party if he didn’t want to hang out with you. But then at some point, you overheard a couple of guys talk about how it was hard to get dates for tonight “since all the good ones were taken.” Ugh, boys. But then it clicked: Shawn just needed to get to the party, that’s it. And that made your heart break that much more. A tear fell down your face, and you didn’t even bother wiping it away. Instead you just sat there, huddled up as to keep warm. All of sudden, you felt someone put a jacket on your shoulders.
You looked up to see your best friends take a seat beside you.
“We were worried about you...” “Yeah, why are you outside? Are you okay?”
“I just, uh needed some fresh air.”
You could see the sympathetic look on their faces and that made you feel so much worse.Â
“Well it just so happens that we needed some fresh air too.”
You chuckled a bit under your breath. You appreciated the effort they made not to push you further. You were never one to express your negative feelings easily; it was hard to open up.
“You don’t have to stay with me, I’m fine, really.”Â
“We don’t mind…”  “He’s right, we don’t mind at all”
