Shasta National Forest. Finish the hike up high on Eagle Creek and then along the PCT back to Carter Meadows Summit.

After 5 days of wiggling about and hard trail, it only took the 6th day to get back. Through a fair bit of burn.
Klamath National Forest. Down one burned creek and up another to reach a decent lake that's not all that burned.

The second day backpacking this loop was a long stretch of hard to find trail through devastating burn from a couple years ago. Some great flowers and spots of pristine creek, but a hard day.
Shasta National Forest. Short in distance, but plenty of elevation to do a loop visiting Little and Big Bear Lakes in Trinity Alps Wildernes

The second day backpacking was an off trail extravaganza since the trail only goes to Big Bear Lake and we were out to see Little Bear Lake too. It was all granite and water and trees and a little brush.

Trinity National Forest. Hiking with the crew to Yolla Bolly Guard Station (site) and continuing with one to the fire lookout (ruined).

The hike visited the old Guard Station location and then climbed to the fire lookout location. Only one is still standing and none were entered.
Trinity National Forest. It's mostly road for this hike, but the views are wonderful, as is the ruin.

Although a little busy on a weekend day and a little bit on road, this was a surprisingly nice hike to a peak and old lookout site where the view really opened out.
Klamath National Forest. Visits to some lovely lesser visited lakes followed by lovely lesser visited valley.

The 5th day backpacking was the best. The greatest lakes and a downright pretty good valley made up the bulk of the day. Finished the day with a new view of another pretty good valley.
