“Will we reach it” That’s a... Really good question. For starters, we don’t even understand everything about our own consciousness, so it’s going to take a really, really long time before we can fully replicate it into computers. If we do get “self aware” computers anytime soon, they probably won’t be as capable of as much as humans are, just because we wouldn’t be able to program it in. This can be a good thing: robot can understand it’s a waitress and it can be fine with that, or a bad thing: robot can understand it’s a killing machine and not know that killing is a moral no-no. So it depends, I’m pretty sure we would be able to stop any robot uprisings in my lifetime (because humans will have access to more weapons than the robots will, and will be smarter/more individualized) but in a thousand years, that could be completely different.

i. hm. they separate their personal lives from their work lives so i feel like. if youve ever seen parks and rec, the episode where leslie and ben are working on something together and leslie tries to work on it all the time but bens like no we're home so like. its like that.
