I feel this so much. Great whites are adorable! I want to go diving with them just to boop the nose and tickle the belly. #sharks #forbidden #sharksarecute #sharksarefriends #boopmynose #boop #boopthesnoot https://www.instagram.com/p/CP4_9-TlLo7/?utm_medium=tumblr
Shark “attacks” or feeding is often associated with the iconic white shark breaching the waters of South Africa and ferociously capturing a sea lion. But, the reality of shark feeding is much more diverse and much less dramatic. There are so many different shark species and they all display different prey-capture methods. Many sharks will modify their attack approach according to the position of the prey in the water column (Frazetta and Prange 1987). While white sharks (C. carcharius) may take their prey at an accelerated rush at the surface, some sharks take small food items in the mid-water column by swimming towards them with an open jaw. In contrast, some sharks are specialized for suction feeding on the ocean floor (i.e.: wobbegong O. maculatus and epaulette H. ocellatum sharks) (Motta and Wilga 2001). Have you ever seen one feeding? Personally, I find the suction feeders to be the cutest things! #stopsucking #sharksarecute #cutesharks #sharkfeeding #sharkbehavior #sharkdiversity #sharkscience #predatorpreyinteractions #apexpredators #sharkdiversity #sharkattack *********************************** Post by @brittanyrvzoo and amazing wobbegong photo by @stubarry 📷 https://www.instagram.com/p/BwQZGiyjePX/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=ij17sgdsatfz
