Part 2: To the forest you fly
Start of the adventure: The Sky is Calling
The poll concluded with more votes for flying south to the forest.
---
With the grace given through heritage, you turn gracefully in the air. Your tender and giver both had an affinity to air magic, which they pass on to their young and will aid in this journey. The flight shall be long but more than worth it. The ancient forest will have a true ruler again! With that decided, the south is your path.
You pass over and around the farmlands and towns of two-legged beings; all the while, thermals and the gift of air magic keep your wings full so you can fly faster and longer than most other fledglings would. Yet, as eager as you are, you must remember that your predecessor to this land left a mark that you will need to overcome. You will need to be wise and cunning if you are to succeed. All the gifts of your ancestors within you will need to be called upon.
One thing that will need to be addressed is the fact that you are more attuned to air than you are to nature and trees. Forest dragons can commune with the very woodland they live in. It is not that they learn to travel without breaking a branch of a tree but that the trees give way to them as servants moving before their ruler. You will need to master this yourself.
And why not start tonight? Even with the air magic of your parents, you are still young and need to rest along the way. After searching for somewhere safe, you will find an old oak tree that will suit your needs. Tall and proud with branches that can hold a young dragon like yourself, with care, you land on a bough that is perfect to recline on. After tending to your wings before preparing to sleep, you perch yourself as you have seen some wild cats do in the land of your birth.
This is not a great slumber, but even in regular sleep, a dragonâs body can adapt and learn from the magic all around. As you sleep, the forest you seek calls out to you, influencing your dreams with images of green, brown, and the rainbow of flowers. You can hear it calling out in pain from the toxic magic the previous matriarch left behind. With the desire for you to heal it, the forest blesses you with nature magic. You still can not commune or command trees like forest dragons can, but you can understand them more, and you'll be blessed with more vitality and healing.
In the morning, you take wing again, and it is a short flight to reach the forest you seek. The oak you slept in the night before seemed massive, but the trees of their ancient woodland were gigantic and would make it look small. As you get closer you notice a quiet, a stillness. There is apprehension in the air as a new dragon has arrived. The animals still and so do the trees. Normally, it is customary to announce your claim, but it feels unwise at this time. Still, tradition is tradition, and what a dragon does first when taking a place as their own. Even announcing oneâs presence is what a dragon is supposed to do when entering a new territory, claimed or not. But you already feel unwelcome and question whether you should sing out your song of rulership or not. Perhaps you should learn more about this place by seeking out food first. Or even a lair? There were rumors of two-legged beings; maybe you want to see what sort of two-legged beings live here? Or is there a different idea you have?
--- The poll will be released on March 22. Current options: -Hunt for food -Find the different two-legged beings -Seek out a lair
You will also need to decide if you sing out your claim to this land or not.
If you want a different option, leave a comment on the post.
