Finally got to break bread with @momarnjai This man’s story is incredible. His book, #shadowsofexile, details his experience growing up in a very affluent #African royal family. When his parents are murdered by his uncle he flees the continent, becomes a refugee in #europe and eventually settled in the #american foster care system. Not just a page turner, but also an awe inspiring story of resilience, humility and strength. @nicole_a_415 of @belle_noire_accessories also joined in donning one of many ensembles from her various lines of African accessories. Riveting from start to finish. This book has sparked my curiosity into learning more about real life migrants. 2. #jayzmadeinamerica by @michaelericdyson is literally a breakdown of an American genius. You can’t help but be inspired and awed by hov’s brilliance. 3. #shadowsofexile by @momarnjai is the fictional account of a real life story. Royalty to rags and back to riches, this story not only destroys misconceptions about #Africa but it also demonstrates the seduction of the ever elusive #Americandream 4. #tattooistofauschwitz by Heather Morris is another compelling novel based on real life events. It’s no wonder this book ascended to the top of the best seller list. 5. #asongforyou by #robyncrawford is a beautifully told story of the friendship between #Whitney Houston’s and Robyn Crawford. The story goes well beyond the sensationalized headlines and delves deep behind the scenes. It’s told in such a classy, candid manner...with delicious hints of shade sori lord through it. 👋🏾 Cissy!
