Do you think that when Feyre went to the human realm for the first time with Rhys. Elain was seen wearing cobalt dress and is also seen that Az smiled when she tightened her grip on her fork, I hope that it is a hint from Sarah regarding their relationship. And when Az and Feyre rescued her? She is almost uncertain that Az came for her. And for the love of she is Lucien's mate! Was he not able to sense her danger? And lastly when she appeared oit of a shadow behind him. Like how did that happen?
1.) Elain stepping out of the shadows to kill the king.
My thoughts in a nutshell: Elain is either a low key shadow singer OR holding Truth-teller allowed her to jump/step through the shadows. (For full elaboration and a shit load of theories, search my blog!)
2.) Lucien not sensing Elain in danger.
Lucien was way far away. And neither of them have accepted the bond yet. Also, we don’t know that Elain was scared in the sense that she would send any kind of distress signal down the bond (remember the Cauldron likes her). And if she was, would she…. knowing Lucien was at the other end? She wasn’t his biggest fan at that point in the book. We just don’t know. Too many variables for me to give a solid opinion or theory on that.
3.) Elain DID “devour the sight” of Az when he saved her. And they had a very *classic* exchange of words with the whole “you came for me” line. I WANT to believe in my smol Elriel heart that Elain was pulling on the mating bond AND WHOOPS IT WAS AZRIEL WHO FELT IT. OR SHE PULLED ON THE BOND AND LUCIEN DIDNT COME BUT OH LOOK AT THE GUY WHO SHOWED UP HE’S THE GUY WHO *ALWAYS* SHOWS UP/SUPPORTS HER.
But let’s be real.
And honest.
I can’t make theories out of ACOWAR because it was not edited to the same standard as the rest of the books. Not trying to be a dick, but it wasn’t. And the inconsistencies present in the narrative make it hard to dig deeper into the language and actions of the characters. I mean, I like to read that as a pro Elriel scene, but I just like that ship because it hits my nerd buttons. If the book was as solid as ACOMAF, then I’d say 100% that was exactly what Maas intended to get across. But i can’t say that. So. Yeah.
4.) Dinner scene: Cobalt dress and the fact that a smile *bloomed* on Azriel’s face. Not an accident. Then later in the book, Feyre mentions how “handsome” Azriel and Elain would be together if Az could stop loving Mor (a day that is on the horizon).
Elriel is certainly there if you look for it. @sparkleywonderful and i used to say it was a raft we tied together with our hair because it was barely a raft after ACOMAF. But it was there. But after ACOWAR it could go both ways. Maas likes her mating bonds too. And there was definitely SOLID foreshadowing for Elucien. And one moment in particular where it read like she was screaming at us that Elriel was never gonna happen. But again, the editing on that book wasn’t up to he same standard as all of Maas’s other books. Again, NOT TRYING TO BE A DICK. I truly enjoyed that book. But it wasn’t as concise or consistent as the other books and it was very obvious to readers like me. So I can’t say either way.
