“Altering Destiny, Escaping Death: Eike Kusch’s bizarre journey through #Time & #Space in Konami’s forgotten masterpiece.” 👱🏻‍♀️⏳💀💎 - 21 years prior, yours truly had the honor and joy of experiencing Mr. Kusch’s journey in one of my ALL-TIME favorite #VideoGames🎮, the 2001 released #ShadowOfMemories as it’s known in #Japan🇯🇵, before the name was appropriately changed to #ShadowOfDestiny over in #NorthAmerica🇺🇸🇨🇦🇲🇽. Shadow of Memories/Destiny is set in the fictional town of #Lebensbaum (lit. meaning “The Tree of Life”), #Germany🇩🇪 and I shan’t lie, it was so fascinating to witness and experience a #Game from the #POV of a #German citizen, in a German-set City. It’s a rarity, but it was an absolute pleasure to have experienced it firsthand. 😀 ...In his seemingly, never-ending journey to escape #Death via #TimeTraveling, using a device known as the #Digipad provided to him by, believe it or not, a #Homunculus whose intentions are neither altruistic, nor noble. The Homunculus is as manipulative as he is deceptive. He’s not necessarily the #Antagonist of Eike’s tale, but it doesn’t mean he’s a “benevolent” entity, quite the contrary. His role is partly that of a #Spectator, yet he does intervene on Eike Kusch’s behalf, all for his own self-interest and not because he particularly likes or cares for Eike, despite the fact that he does find the latter amusing. 😈🎭 ...On his journey to alter his destiny and escape death, Eike Kusch encounters many #Characters he’d come to bond with, some of who would have their lives and destinies, respectively, saved and altered by him. Unlike the Homunculus, Eike is a very goodnatured, heroic, and selfless #Man who values #Human life, including his own and everyone of the people he bonds with and positively impacts. Margaret and Dana are two such individuals who, thanks to Eike, are bestowed the opportunities to live their lives in time periods that aren’t their own, and they couldn’t have been happier. 👩🏻‍🦰🙏🏻🧒🏻 ...So much detail was put into this very underrated gem of game.
