Kaura sat impatiently outside of Crowley's dark house. She could have let herself in, but the evening breeze was pleasant. He'd been away for what felt like forever. Admittedly, the break had been a good distraction, but she missed him.
Crowley was pissed. Every time he ran into trouble in Hell, he lost track of time on Earth. Grumbling over his calendar in his home office, he realized he had missed over eight months, to be exact. The last time he had missed this much time, a group of thugs had broken into his home and made an absolute mess of it. They were demon thugs, no doubt. Luckily, everything was in its place this time.
Kaura’s pull on him, and his on her, was a special kind of magic that defied explanation. Almost immediately, his gloomy mood lifted when he sensed her presence outside his home. Maybe she kept the bad out, since he knew it was not unusual for her to stop by his home and let herself in on occasion when he was gone. He didn’t mind that. In fact, he liked it.
Putting the calendar neatly back inside his desk drawer, Crowley walked out into the long hallway and stopped in the foyer to open the door. Kaura had opted to stand outside enjoying the weather. She looked so peaceful that he couldn’t find it in his heart to say something gruff and teasing. So instead, he quietly opened the door and stepped out beside her, placing his hands in his coat pockets as he glanced around.
