Tristessa of the Keening Domain formation: 588 BC Power Level: 💀💀 ⚫⚫⚫  (2/5 skulls) Sources: Darklords (2e), Realms of Terror (2e), Domains of Dread (22e), Secrets of the Dread Realms (3e) Tristessa is a banshee and the Darklord of The Keening: a small, lifeless Domain south of Darkon and west of Tepest. Tristessa is an interesting case and proof that we are all held here by the whims of our Tormentors and not for our acts of darkness for Tristessa act of darkness was caused by her fellows just as much as it was caused by her, yet she is the one to face eternal imprisonment. The Keening is made up of a single, lonely mountain at its center, Mount Lament. At the base of this mountain is a city inhabited solely by the dead. Before she became undead and a Darklord, Tristessa was a shadow fey of the Unseelie Court. Her people lived in the cavernous cities beneath the Domain of Arak (which is now known as the Shadow Rift and was pulled into The Core during the Grand Conjunction. Definitely not my fault…) She and her people became worshipers of the spider goddess, Lloth, after a trio of Drow traveled to the Unseelie Court and spread the Queen of the Demon Web Pit’s poisonous scripture. Fully indoctrinated by their teachings, Tristessa formed her own sect of Lloth’s teachings and called her followers the Spider Cult. Not exactly the most creative of names… The cult grew in power to a point where Unseelie Prince of Shadows, Loht, felt he had to fight against her before her followers turned too many of his people to Lloth.  The Shadow Fey have a strict creed to never kill another Shadow Fey. At least, not directly. The Fey are known for their trickery. Often lore indicates that a true fey cannot tell a lie, but that does not necessarily mean they always tell the truth. Misdirection, lies through omission…These are the tools of the Fey. Loht, being a Prince of the Fey, knew these tricks well and managed to significantly reduce Tristessa’s following without spilling a single drop of shadow fey blood - that, of course, doesn’t mean they didn’t die through a series of well timed ‘accidents’. However, this was not enough for the Prince of Shadows. He wanted to see Tristessa punished for her actions. So, after she gave birth to a child born with spider legs, he had them dragged to the surface and staked to the ground. He left her and her baby there, knowing that when the sun rose it would kill them both. Since it was the sun that killed them, Loht still abided by his people’s laws. Us lawful evil individuals are very good at finding loopholes. As Tristessa’s baby died by her side, she let out a scream that shattered Arak, pulling it into the Mists and creating The Keening. Every living thing within became one of the undead in the wake of that scream. She now constantly searches  for her child and wails in grief for her loss. Tristessa does not understand what has happened to her, her only thought is to find her child. Tristessa is a traditional banshee with a few unique abilities. She is not tied to one location as most banshees are, but can travel throughout her Domain, though she does favor the tunnels beneath Mount Lament. She can sense any living thing that enters The Keening. She fixates on these individuals, asking them where her baby is. She will happily take any baby that is presented to her, though this does not turn out well for the child. However, upon doing so, Tristessa will grant entrance to the passage through Mount Lament’s caverns.

Collaboration with friends

A god of darkness, the Udukshini lurks where foolish travelers wander into in the dead of night like mountain roads, forests, or abandoned buildings. It plays pranks on them to feed on their fear, after which their mere mischief become serious things.

So I'm running a homebrew campaign set in the feywild, and there's a few racial limitations because some races just don't make a ton of sense existing in the feywild where the context for them isn't the same, but ibwanrwd to add some extra race choices to keep things interesting. So here are the stats for the Shadow Fey, and Void Dragonborn who live in the Feydark. And the Faerie Dragonborn inspired by the faerie dragons in the monster manual. Not pictured is the dryad homebrew which I posted a long whole ago.
