New Melbourne venue to develop local talent
The Shadow Electric Bandroom at the Abbotsford Convent in Melbourne has announced it will be opening to host live music for four nights a week from August.
Kicking off the gigs are Rat & Co who return to Melbourne after supporting Chet Faker on his recent national tour.

TAM Projects, a trio of fine multi-disciplined artists invited us to perform live at the Beg Scream & Shout festival at Shadow Electric open air cinema. Having seen us play at the Federation Bells, TAM wanted something composed for a 10 minute experimental film they were commissioned to create, and once we chatted about the themes/imagery, the process quickly became collaborative as it fit perfectly with the direction of a new Glasfrosch piece already in the works. After we exchanged a few initial drafts, both groups continued independently, the final film being edited to the final demo of the piece. Ultramarine is the title of the music, Sea Shake is the title TAM Projects gave to the film. Performed by Justin Ashworth: Electronics, synth, baritone guitar, glockenspiel, claps, castanet. Adam Rudegeair: Piano, claps. Chad Blaster filled in on drums while James was in Europe. Audio multi-track recorded by Blake Stickland Mixed by Justin Ashworth.

Set in Arnhem land, a man tells us one of the stories of his people and his land. An older man, Minygululu who has three wives, realizes that his younger brother Dayindi may try to steal away the youngest wife. He tells his brother a story from the dreaming, as a lesson.
A story within a story, Rolf De Heer’s 10 Canoes is a visually stunning, heartfelt film. The first film shot entirely in Indigenous language, 10 Canoes won six AFI awards and was the 2006 Cannes Film Festival’s Un Certain Regard prizewinner.
