Here’s a new song from Norwegian dark synth pop dup Sgrow. The band calls “You” a “laid-back, funky little thing that came to life on New Year’s Eve”, but don’t expect a dance number for popping the bubbly at midnight. The song is rather reflective of unhealthy things that one should not take into the new year – in this case draining friendships. I guess you could dance to “You”, but you will feel like in an arthouse science fiction movie.

Sgrow is working on a second part to last years album “Circumstance”, to be released in November. Listen to our Song Pick of the Day below:

One of my favorite discoveries this year is the Norwegian electronic duo Sgrow. Their tracks “Is Anybody Where They Want To Be?” and “Feel Something” were our Song Picks of the Day and we also featured the video for “Kismet”. Now their debut EP “Circumstance” with four more dark and unsettling tracks is out. Don’t miss it!

We have talked before about Sgrow, a Norwegian, electronic duo that does eclectic and gripping music maybe best suited for the twilight hours of the day. For the third single “Kismet” of their upcoming album, due out on November 10, they teamed up with director Linnea Syversen for a video that delivers the perfect backdrop for their music. The director explains:

When I listened to ‘Kismet’ for the first time, my mind and my associations immediately went to the image of this human being living outside of the community within its own world, imprisoned by destructive thoughts but at the same time hopeful for the future. I really wanted the scenes to reflect the register of human emotions which the song in my perception represents. From the unspoiled and the fragile, to the more raw, rough and animalistic that lies within us humans.

Here is a new one by Norwegian electronic duo Sgrow. “Feel Something” has the same chills-inducing intensity as its predecessor “Is Anybody Where They Want to Be” plus some Aphex-Twin-inspired synth craziness. But it is very much Vilde Nupen’s haunted vocals that stop you in your tracks when this song is coming up.

Sgrow is Vilde Nupen and Kristoffer Lislegaard, an from Norway. Their latest song “Is Anyone Where They Want To Be?” is a dark and menacing piece of electronic music. Minimal beats and melodic elements underline Vilde’s vocals that come from a place of self-doubt and insecurity. Is anyone where they want to be? Probably yes, but sometimes it doesn’t feel like it.
