In UT they were a couple, mostly Grillby was helping with babybones at the beginning. But this helpful friendship ended up as romance.But after Gasterās disappearance Grillby forgot him, yet for some unknown for him reason not trying to get new relationship. If someone waited for him. Or he waited for someone.
In US two of them were a couple as well xD And after Gaster disappearance Grillby got even crazier than before, as something in his head told him something is very wrong. Gaster became a River man, not remembering anything about who he is, just s River man. Both of them never saw each other, mostly because Grillby doesnāt come near to that river.
In SF everything ressemblante to US, just Grillby met River man. And remembered who is that personā¦ however couldnāt make Gaster remember anything. So heās just trying to win River manās heart again.
In UF they simply hate each other for reasons and would gladly kill one another.In VT they are drink bodies.
And Iām a bit lazy to describe them separately as characters now.

his work is his life - he cares nothing for anyone else, and if he displays even the slightest interest in you

thankfully, no one remembers him - his name, his legacy, and its a good thing, because his terrible deeds and cruelty would have left quite a dark stain on monster history

What does UT, UF, US, SF Gaster look for in a s/o vs what they NEED in one?
UT!Gaster:
Want: Uhā¦..want is a strong word? In general I leave the sexual orientation of my versionĀ skelebrosĀ up to the interpretation of the reader, but Gaster is pretty much demiromantic. Its not impossible for him to be attracted to someone romantically but heās mostly devoted to his work and blindingly unaware of people around him. The prospect of being in a relationship with someone else rarely, if ever, occurs to him, and if he never dated anyone heād probably be okay. If he was asked to write down a preference heād probably want someone on the more practical side. Balance him out and all that
Need:ā¦Yeah, he needs someone practical. But Gaster is going to be miserable (and make them miserable) if his partner is also very excited about his work. You donāt have to be a science buff, just have to be happy to listen to him talk about it for hours on end. Bonus points if you can contribute or ask good questions. You have to be okay with long hours and not really having him on hand constantly. A good sense of humor is a really good addition to the relationship. The plus side for you is when Gaster finally does fall in love, its never by halves. He is capable of deep devotion for his partners. Likeā¦.poetry. Not good poetry, mind, but its very sweet nonetheless.
UF!Gaster:
Want: Again, heās capable of being romantically attracted to someone, but ultimately its just impractical from his perspective. Heās far too busy and a partner would just get in the way. Bothering to come up with a type is the least of his worries.
Need: Dating Fell isnāt for the faint of heart, so above all you cannot be a pushover. but he needs a gentle strength. Heās had enough of grandstanding idiots and arrogant bravado to last him a lifetime. He needs a quiet resilience, a refusal to take shit coupled with a certain unobtrusiveness that prefers to observe surroundings rather than dominate them. A good amount of intelligence, and while a smart mouth will initially frustrate him, he appreciates it over time.Ā
US!Gaster:
Want: Heās glad you asked! Naturally they must have an optimism to match his own, as well as courage, kindness, humility, intelligence, wit, a sense of justice, devotion, lovingness, sweet nature, grace, etc., etc.
Need: Look, no oneās ever gonna fit up to his ideal partner. Deep down even he knows that. Ultimately what Swap needs is someone who can adore him, but not be dazzled by him. To clarify, Swap doesnāt want for approval, heās the darling of pretty much the enitre Underground. So while his partner needs to be ready to work as part-time cheerleader for his exploits, he also needs someone whoās not afraid to all him out and anchor him to reality a little.Ā āHey, Captain of the Royal Guard, nice job with helping little Timmy, now could you take out the trash?ā. He needs someone he can come home and sweep off their feet, covering them with kisses before setting them down to listen to his latest adventure. Or better yet someone who can go on thsoe adventures with him.
SF!Gaster:
Wants: He would never date a partner whoās competency he didnāt respect entirely but his ideal partner is a housewife/husband/spouse. The perfect relationship for him is one that stays separate from all the (necessary) bulsshit of his job and the stress of it all. Ideally, home is an oasis, where he comes home and asks his partner how their day was. They sit down to dinner, have a nice and relaxing conversation, and then go to bed together, one reading to the other sometimes, other times just holding each other. Oddly romantic for such a stoic guy.
Needs: Despite not being the most in touch skeleton, emotionally speaking, his wants and needs are pretty similar, Again, to re-emphasize, heās got no problem if you have a career. Heād just like the relationship to be as stable feeling and solid as he can manage. Also, you need to be okay with his hyper-protective street. Obviously draw the line if he starts locking you in the house, but you have to recognize that a lot of his paranoia stems from the very real day to day threats of his life. You cannot get in screaming match every time he gets a bit hedgy about you doing certain things. Heāll eventually get comfortable enough to ease off. Because again, its not you he doesnāt trust, its the world around both of you.
