feast
Yesterday, echo, cylis, anita & i made a feast for many of our friends. Some people also made food, folks from the Back House, Larissa, my mom and her boyfriend. We called it the "Anti-Colonialism Day Feast" or the "Anti-Genocide Day Feast" or the "Thanks capitalism for throwing all this away so we can thrive day Feast". It doesn't change the hundreds of years of colonialism, genocide and marginilization faced by the First People of this land. We acknowledged the stolen land we stand upon, that our house is perched upon, we shared moments when it seemed like we had banished oppression, at least a little. We talked about things we are thankful for a bit. I thought about how each day is filled with hopefulness and hopelessness, ability and disability, and community is the thing that will enable us to survive and support each other even though the state certainly has sharper nails and more ferocious teeth (with drones flying out of them). Also, there was gluten free apple pie. Â
