So Avan is a world that I’ve been building for 2ish years, on and off, as a setting for a D&D campaign, but along the way I fell deeply in love with some NPCs I created, to the point I fully classify them as OCs now, since 1) they’re way more detailed than they needed to be and 2) I full out started writing about them. There’s also a good handful of them, and I’m making more as the story expands, but right now I’m focusing on my Power Couple, Inyo and Nyssa.
Half elf cleric of Melora, goddess of wilderness and the sea
Dark skin, short and curly black hair, dresses in a lot of bright colors
Father is a elf, and a member of the tribe of druidic elves who live on Asteri, in the Taelesi Islands, mother is a human weaver from Kybal, also in the Islands
Her father was working on a ship that had docked in Kybal for a while when he and Inyo’s mother met and did the do, he’s not completely absent from her life (Wavewalker is his title that he gave to her) but Inyo was definitely raised by her mom
She also has half siblings and a step dad, but I’m still working on them
Worshiping Melora is one of the ways that she tries to bridge the nature worship of her father’s people with the more human culture of her mother and Kybal
She started adventuring just as a way to see more of the world outside of her island hometown
First met Nyssa when she was headed back to Kybal after finding out that her father had gotten in trouble for illegal smuggling of the drug thubesh and went back to try and prove his innocence
Generally pretty sweet (’Matron of the sea give you safe travels!”), likes helping people, and believes in the Power Of Doing Good
Except sometimes when she gets angry, and then it’s “The Matron of the sea told me personally she wants your corpse specifically to feed the fishes.”
Generally she gets angry when people hurt or threaten her friends or girlfriend
Halfling fighter, dual wields two scimitars
Medium brown skin, black hair pulled back into intricate braids with gold beads, several piercings, dresses simply and for comfort
Also from Kybal, born to a family of respectable halfling smiths and expected to carry on the family trade
Said fuck that as soon as she was old enough and ran away to go work on a ship
Quickly fell in with the smuggling of thubesh to the port city of Savent and eventually the Myriad, the criminal organization that runs all illegal activities in Savent and somewhat the Islands too
Learned how to fight and rose in rank, eventually ending up as the quartermaster on a large cargo (read: smuggling) ship that mainly traveled between Kybal and Savent
Which is how she first met Inyo and the rest of the party, as her ship was one of their prime investigation targets to try and clear Inyo’s father’s name
1) Inyo is very attractive and Nyssa is very bi 2) She was the first person to ever show Nyssa the actual consequences of the smuggling she was doing and that it was hurting people
So Nyssa helped the party in rescuing Inyo’s dad, turning over several of her contacts
Except the Myriad wasn’t too happy when they found out about that, so Inyo and the party had to save Nyssa and then hightail it out of Savent
Nyssa is generally pretty punchy, but she’s trying not to turn to violence first these days, since she’s trying for make up for past mistakes
She also fucking loves her girlfriend with her whole heart and thinks the magic she can do is the absolute coolest
