the  spirit  of  challenge  briefly  remembered  walking  ;  which  felt  like  an  endless  parade  of  scenery  starting  to  blend  with  another  .  his  bright  eyes  lowered  to  his  feet  ,  encrusted  with  dark  blackness  from  dirt  he’s  walked  upon  .  he  flexes  his  toes  ,  feeling  the  ache  in  them  return  .  he  turns  to  trigger  his  memory  where  he  had  ended  up  before  sleep  had  overtaken  him  .  he  was  seated  at  the  base  of  a  ceremonial  statue  ,  a  mythical  dog  standing  in  silent  guard  with  a  propped  up  paw  annexed  his  right  leg  .  its  shade  brought  him  a  peaceful  respite  .

odd  .  𝐒𝐄𝐓𝐓  flexed  his  violet  suffused  arm  ,  claws  crackling  forward  &  back  .  the  spirit  beads  surrounding  the  width  of  it  glimmered  &  tinked  softly  as  he  tried  to  see  if  he  was  truly  awake  .  he  wasn’t  burning  .  he  wasn’t  in  agony  .  he  didn’t  feel  …  alone  .  did  this  place  quell  anguish  ?

he  realizes  the  weight  next  to  him  .  the  statue  remained  ,  but  one  anomaly  remained  ;  &  it  returned  with  a  sweet  perfume  .  one  he  recognized  without  fault  .  this  was  what  caused  it  ,  wasn’t  it  ?  did  she  put  him  to  sleep  ?  was  it  the  environment  ?

𝐒𝐄𝐓𝐓  didn’t  budge  nor  look  at  her  ,  simply  lowering  his  burly  arm  back  upon  his  lap  ,  his  claws  grazing  the  wooden  muzzle  of  the  mask  strapped  to  his  hip  .  his  spirit  badgers  oddly  remaining  ,  too  ,  tamed  &  hovering  in  content  atop  his  broad  shoulders  .  they  didn’t  appear  very  attentive  to  their  surroundings  either  .

now  …  at  the  mention  of  the  cars  being  crashed  into  …  𝐒𝐄𝐓𝐓  restrained  the  want  to  allow  his  ears  to  dictate  the  resurfacing  of  discomfort  &  guilt  .  yone  was  real  mad  that  day  .  &  it  fuckin’  sucked  trying  to  appeal  to  yone  for  the  rest  of  the  day  as  an  apology  .  not  something  he  wanted  to  venture  back  into  again  .  ❝  eh  …  i  dunno  .  look  —  i  gotta  run  .  boss  man  can’t  be  sittin’  ere’  for  too  long  .  ❞

sharp  tendrils  come  to  grip  the  cotton  surrounding  the  edges  of  his  ear  &  tug  it  off  his  head  ;  humidity  &  heat  dispersing  through  the  mop  of  hair  on  his  head  .  pink  pigmented  crimson  curls  flit  upwards  ,  some  sticking  to  his  temple  ,  &  others  flattened  from  his  hand  -  knitted  beanie  made  by  his  dear  momma  .  𝐒𝐄𝐓𝐓  fumbles  with  the  heart  sewn  onto  the  right  cranium  ,  making  sure  he  hadn’t  accidentally  loosened  the  string  at  all  (  he  hates  to  bother  his  ‘ma  fussing  over  this  little  thing  )  .

after  briefly  making  sure  he  hadn’t  ruined  a  perfectly  good  weft  stitched  hat  ,  he  neatly  tucked  it  into  the  hem  of  his  pocket  ,  thick  digits  coming  to  palm  the  wetness  of  his  hair  .  his  ears  were  not  exempted  from  being  messy  ;  fur  sticking  out  in  varying  angles  across  his  pointed  appendages  .  𝐒𝐄𝐓𝐓  glides  his  fingers  through  his  hair  ,  nostrils  flared  as  he  dispels  the  air  wedged  within  the  hollow  caverns  of  his  lungs  ,  quirking  a  protruding  thick  brow  at  the  man  who  proclaimed  to  be  a  mechanic  .
