Day 1 - Celebration
Based on the wonderful "Fairy Tale" series by SakuraChiyo on Ao3 đ A modern AU Byleth and Seteth are celebrating their wedding, and baby Flayn is helping them cut the cake :3
Day 2 - Ocean
"Respite" - Seteth and Byleth take a trip to the Rhodos Coast.
Day 3 - trust/myths and fairy tales
"The Fabler's Fears" - Byleth and Seteth are expecting, and Seteth has some worries.
Day 4 - Transformation & Holy
Based on an AU where Seteth is an old dragon who hides away from the world, & Byleth seeks him out as she needs his help. I referenced some extant stained glass, & also the fairy from beauty & the beast.
Day 5 - Midnight & AUs
A dance at midnight - consider it a follow up to the one scene I've posted for my 1830s AU. I wanted to do a victorian style etching for this one. I did cheat the big blocks of crosshatching a bit, but I think it still sort of works đ

For day 2, prompt 2 of #setleth week. AO3 Link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/36017617
It had been years since the war was over, but Seteth could still feel the reminders from before on his scarred body. He remembers how it was a hell on Earth without Byleth there, how he desperately protected Flayn but let his mind wander to wherever the Ashen Demon was.
Now, it had been years since their plight but it still felt so raw. It was Bylethâs idea to take a trip away for a while, to try and give themselves a semblance of peace. Seeing Flayn run amok the sea shore chasing gulls and collecting shells brought some ease to the old godâs heart, but those fears and doubts still weighed heavy on his mind.
His nightmares and doubts seemed like a never-ending cloud and even the sunniest days out here on the beach couldnât dispel them. It was only her touch that quenched any worries or doubts. Her small hand that enveloped his, fingers that brushed through his hair, held his face. Hands that brought him to the edge and back in their pleasure, always a sensuous union in which their bodies were always intertwined with each other.
All that and more was the epitome of the new life Seteth built with Byleth. And now, there was one more that was to be the newest addition to their family. The news still didnât feel real to Seteth, and he could still feel the voices from before rear their ugly heads.
He squeezed her hand tighter than normal that evening as they laid in bed, the questions overflowing from the cracks within his heart.
âWould I be good enough for this child?â
âWill it be as before?â
âWhat if I lost you again? I already lost you before, my family, myâŠâ
He couldnât finish the rest of his sentence past the lump in his throat, but it was the soft kiss she placed on his forehead that truly silenced him.
âSeteth, my love, I will tell you this and only this. You are more than enough for me. For Flayn. And for this child. You will never lose us again, and you will never have to suffer alone as you did before. I am with you, here and now.â
Christmas was equally a stressful yet cherished time of the year for Seteth. The universityâs annual Christmas party always drew in a large crowd, along with an influx of food and wine that made spirits bright. Before, the tired father would have passed on these gawdy events, furthering his long list of excuses that mostly involved care for Flayn.
Nowadays, there was one he would make an exception for. A newfound appreciation that culminated into a blossoming love for the new professor that joined them this year. A quiet, charming woman that mostly kept to herself but still attracted the attention of those who passed by her office.
Be it a student, fellow teacher or assistant, Byleth had an air to her that always lit up the room. Seteth always considered himself a serious man, not one who got easily distracted. Yet, all of that was gradually worn down with every meeting. That was the thing about her, wasnât it?
So unknowingly friendly and welcoming to all, it made Seteth a bit jealous that others looked at her with content. At first, he thought her unqualified, uncouth and given her youth, not the best candidate as a universityâs professor. That was until he got to meet her, and slowly form an unlikely friendship with the young woman.
What started as pleasant greetings evolved into small-talk, then coffee breaks, lunch in the break rooms, to the after-hours whenever students clamored at the end of the semesters. The fleeting touches, eye glances, and pink blushes were their little secrets. Something that only a man and woman who were drawn to each other could confide in with each other.
He sees her, in the here and now amongst the crowds. How she smiles at him and he sees the emotins that befall her behind those bright eyes. She sees him too. A man that was once consumed by loneliness who let himself be open to the possibilities ahead. In a room full of drunkenness and revelry, it is only two souls who keep the secret of their love burning.
Of course they go to the ocean at least once a year, it just makes sense. Flayns there too sheâs just over their domestic bliss and is working on her sick tan.
Iâm going to try my damndest to get through this week đ hope you enjoy

The aftermath of a war that nearly lasted six years wasnât joyous, per se. It was more like the entire continent breathed a collective sigh of relief. Â But with that relief came a great sorrow. One half mourned the loss of their Emperor, who had promised equality and reformation. The other half mourned their Archbishop, a guiding light in the chaos and uncertainty. In the middle of it all was Byleth, who cried for hours over the death of Edelgard, and felt a deep ache in her chest âno, in her very bones- as Rhea peacefully passed away in her arms.
To admit that she mourned one would cause her to loose favor with the opposing side, and as the newly crowned Queen Byleth had to work to make sure she stayed firmly in the realm of neutrality. On the outside, all she cared for was the restoration and the continuing peace of Fodlan. It seemed somewhat hypocritical, lying to the masses in order to avoid negative pushback. It also seemed hopelessly pointless, since Edelgardâsstaunchest supporters seemed like they would never accept Byleth as their Queen. Ferdinand despaired over his inability to use any status to try and sway the public opinion. The words of the son of a disgraced and deposed Prime Minister meant little to the Imperial supporters who still had lands and titles to their name.
Only a small amount of Imperial-supporting nobles attended Bylethâs coronation, to the surprise of no one.
âThey are all disingenuous,â Ferdinand whispered disgustedly into Bylethâs ear. âDo not be fooled; they are only acting cordial so they can keep their status. Â I can almost guarantee you they are slandering you behind your back.â His face twisted into a scowl, and he spat upon the ground.
Byleth pat his arm soothingly. âI know, and I donât care. They can slander all they want, but Iâm going to do my best for them, too.â She gave Ferdinand a coy smirk, âIt is best to kill them with kindness, so the saying goes.â
Ferdinand balked, and then hid a laugh politely behind his hand. âI see my lessons finally sunk in. If I didnât know better, Iâd say you were born into Imperial nobility; passive aggressiveness is like a second language in the court.â
âOh? Is that why you were sometimes so impossible to teach?â
âWhy must you wound me so, Your Majesty?â Ferdinand placed a hand on his chest and sighed melodramatically. Byleth laughed and waved him off.
Ferdinand floundered, but quickly regained his composure. He bowed before rushing over to Bernadetta and, after a brief exchange of words (and her chugging an entire flute of sparkling wine for courage), swept her into a graceful waltz.
The next hours were a haze of tense conversations and formality. Byleth eventually had to excuse herself, claiming that the ballroom was becoming frightfully stuffy and that she needed some air. She fanned herself delicately, curtseyed, and swiftly took her leave. Â Finally away from judgmental eyes, she took off her high heels and sighed heavily in relief. In a perfect world, she would have ripped the lilies from her hair and undone the fishtail braid, but she knew that sooner or later she would have to rejoin the crowd. And as much as diving into the pond and sitting at the bottom until she smelled like herself again sounded like paradise, she would have to abstain.
Byleth padded across the cobblestone and wiggled her toes on the cool, damp grass as she walked into the courtyard. When she got to one of the benches, she fell down onto it in a way that was entirely inappropriate for a new Queen. Just for added defiance she spread her knees, thankful that she had chosen to wear a dress that didnât restrain her legs. Â Briefly she humored the idea of throwing her shoes into a bush and returning to the ballroom barefoot. With the length of her dress no one would notice, and she would probably be a much better dancer without her feet in constant agony. Â Alas, she decided to be a responsible adult and just set the shoes next to her.
Byleth leaned back, draping her arms over the bench, and sighed up at the sky. Now that she no longer had to put on the act of a composed and regal Queen, she was suddenly hit with the weight of everything. It was like someone had cut the rope holding a large sandbag that had been precariously hanging over Bylethâs head since it was decided she would take the throne after the war. Â She knew how to bark orders through pain, devise strategies, negotiate with merchants, and ration supplies because Jeralt had taught her all those skills. She knew how to be a warrior and a solider; not the Queen of an entire continent. Â She felt horrible for thinking it, but she missed the wartime. She knew how to navigate a battlefield, but she didnât know how to heal the hurt of such a long and bloody war. Â Her expertise was in commanding troops, not leading an entire country.
Not for the first time, Byleth wished Jeralt was still alive to impart some wisdom onto her. He would be just as clueless about governance as she was, but he had always found a way to make things click that no one else had.
âYour Majesty,â Setethâs voice was as clear as it ever was. Byleth yelped in surprise and quickly composed herself, closing her legs and smoothing out her skirt as she looked towards him. Â Seeing him in blue and white regalia made of cotton and silk, rather than blood-stained silver plate, was almost foreign. Â He crossed the courtyard in long stride before coming to stand before her. His expression softened, âyou came out here for some peace, I take it? I cannot say I blame you. The ballroom has become,â he paused to inhale through his nose, âsuffocating, for lack of a better word.â
âYou caught me,â Byleth admitted with a small smile. She looked around Seteth, blinking in surprise at the noticeable lack of Flayn, and looked up at him. âYouâre leaving Flaynunguarded?â She teased lightly.
âFighting alongside the students has shown me that most of them can be trusted. For a night, at the very least. Â Likewise, she has proven time and again that she doesnât constantly need me in her shadow,â His expression turned somber for a moment, but he shook his head lightly.
âMy, my, I never thought Iâd see the day.â Byleth laughed. She scooted over and patted the empty spot next to her. âCome and sit. Youâve been on your feet all night, I know you need it.â
Seteth looked torn because what he wanted and what was proper, his shoulders tense. Byleth clicked her tongue and reached out to pull him down. He gasped in surprise, and actually needed a moment to right himself. Â âThere, see? Donât you feel better?â
âYou didnât even give me time to respond.â
âThe only way you would have sat down is if I ordered you to.â
Seteth scoffed, âBeing so presumptuous doesnât flatter you at all.â
âIt isnât presumptuous if I know it as fact.â
âIf you insist.â
Byleth pouted and nudged him with her elbow, but said nothing else to continue the argument. Â Seteth lightly smirked triumphantly.
They sat in a comfortable, familiar silence for a long time. It wasnât unlike the rare and cherished times when it was just them, a pot of tea, and a book of myths between them, or  times spent at the fishing pond (although Byleth burst out laughing when Seteth admitted he didnât even know how to bait a hook). It was peaceful and grounding, almost liberating in the wake of having to put on the façade of a composed and regal Queen. But even still, Bylethâs uncertainty gnawed at the back of her mind, and the words tumbled out of her mouth before she could stop them.
âDo you think Iâll be a good Queen?â She could have slapped herself. But why stop there? âI donât want to hear âYouâve been chosen by Rhea and the Goddess; of course you willâ. Iâve heard that all night. I want to know your honest opinion.â
Seteth looked at her in the eye, expression contemplative. After a long pause he replied, âAs a man of faith that poses some difficulty.â He began evenly, âIâve made it no secret that I believe the Goddess always intended this to be your fate. You are a brilliant tactician and a charismatic military commander. In an ideal world, that would translate to being an unparalleled monarch. But this world is anything but idealistic, and you are brash, reckless, and quick to jump to conclusions. Your first reaction is to strike first, and ask questions later. Â Do I think that makes you unfit to rule? No. Â But I do think those hot-headed tendencies of yours need to be tempered by time and experience. There is no such thing as a ruler who is perfect immediately after taking the throne.â
Byleth mulled over Setethâs response, chewing on her bottom lip. âThatâs⊠reassuring. Thank you.â She said quietly. Boldly, she reached up to cup Setethâs cheek. âSo, can I trust you to be there if I need help?â
âAlways,â Seteth breathed, slowly placing a hand atop hers. âI will remain by your side until the day I die.â
âIâm so glad.â
Bylethâs heart didnât beat. It never did, and it probably never would. But as if to compensate for that, warmth blossomed from her chest and radiated all throughout her body as her and Setethâs lips met. The first kiss was awkward, because she had never been kissed in her life. The second was less so, and the third⊠Goddess the third was everything sheâd ever hoped for. Poets described kisses like fireworks. Brilliant, shocking, spectacular things that sparkled and sizzled. Kissing Seteth was soft and tender and warm, like being wrapped in a thick blanket in front of the fire on a freezing winter night. Â
The love ballads Dorothea sang Petra suddenly made all the sense in the world, and Byleth felt like her head had been stuffed with feathers when she and Seteth finally pulled away. She felt warm and dizzy and weightless like she had too much mulled wine. âThat was-â She began dazedly.
âInappropriate.â Seteth cut in. He stood up abruptly. âForgive me; I shouldnât have let my emotions cloud my judgement.â
âI was going to say amazing.â Byleth said sternly, catching his hand. âIf what I feel for you right now -what Iâve been feeling for the longest time- is inappropriate, then so be it. I donât want to stop feeling this way. Ever.â She gazed in the direction of the ballroom, where the orchestra had just begun playing another suite. âI know I have to go back soon, but letâs enjoy this moment just a little longer.â Byleth laced her fingers through Setethâs , Â keeping them loose enough so he could pull away if he wanted to. âIf you feel the same, that is.â She finished lamely.
Setethâs fingers tightened around hers, and he sat back down without a word.
I did it! I drew something for Setleth week day 1! The prompt was first kiss
.... not a whole lot of thought was put in to this. However I love the idea that our emotionally void (?) Byleth has to be the one to make the first move, while Seteth just sits at his desk and struggles with his feelings. Haha.
Also this was the first time I drew Seteth that Iâm actually ok with đ
