“I don’t think that’s a good idea,” X3-28 quickly uttered. His hand stroked firmly over the hairs of one of his paint brushes while he kept it in a small bucket of rainwater, the paint clinging to his fingers. “If the model is based on an existing person, their identity would be available for verification online. Any humans you try to apply for work with, especially with the current climate, will search.”

A   twinge   of   annoyance   flickered   over   grizzled   features,   soft   lips   that   remained   looking   gentle   for   only   a   shadow   of   a   moment   ‘fore   corners   are   downturned   and   curled   into   a   gnarled   and   ugly   sneer.   Eyes   dark   and   donned   with   the   usual   shot   of   vitriol   and   exhaustion   focus,   zeroing   in   on   the   janitorial   android   with   a   twinge   of   disbelief   or   incredulous   annoyance.   An   expression   that   is   stricken   into   features   further   by   the   way   the   light   accentuates   the   scars   and   wrinkles   on   his   face   as   his   expression   hardens.   A   bitter   noise   comes   next   to   break   his   unnerving   silence.    

        and   I   don’t   need   your   pity.   I   don’t      --     

“  Tch.   Oh   yeah?   Well   then   I   guess   I   can   count   myself   lucky   that   you   c’n   do   one   thing   right   and   know   better   than   to   mouth   off.   After   all,   we   wouldn’t   want   any   of   our   station   androids   to   turn   up   reset   or   in   need   of   repairs,   would   we?  ”            Pausing   for   just   a   moment   to   let   it   sink   in,   his   playfully   threatening   facade   faltering   for   just   a   moment   as   he   wades   in   the   silence   before   starts   again,   his   teasingly   menacing   tone   returning   full   force   as   he   steps   just   a   bit   closer   and   hisses.

“  Careful   on   your   way   home ,   looootta   psycho’s   out   there.  ”            A   sock   to   his   arm   and   a   wink   paired   with   a   click   of   his   tongue   as   he   drops   the   subject   completely   and   walks   off.   But   not   without   dropping   his   spent   cigarette   on   the   floor   for   him   to   clean   up   as   he   walks   through   the   sliding   glass   doors.   He   knows   he   shouldn’t   have   been   smoking   inside,   knows   it   was   probably   a   bad   idea   to   test   fate   like   that   just   because   the   department   was   rather   empty   tonight.   But   still,   being   challenge   --   (   or   rather   feeling   like   he   was   challenged   )   --   was   simply   too   much   for   the   man.   So   if   they   would   push   he   was   going   to   shove,   and   he   wasn’t   afraid   of   the   consequences.   A   sigh,   under   his   breath   of   a   very   common   phrase   often   voiced   in   secret   by   the   detective   and   shown   fully   in   his   actions.               “  Fuckin’   Androids.  ”            The   work   could   wait   until   tomorrow   being   told   off   by   an   android,   the   damn   thing   acting   like   it   had   any   sort   of   jurisdiction   over   him,   pissed   him   off   enough   to   push   him   to   bail   on   his   work   tonight.
