'Impulsively, Shikamaru reached for a dusty keyboard, unsuspectingly lying within his reach on the table.

For once, Shikamaru let go, giving in to his urges that wanted to take over. He lifted the device up and let it come down on the hard surface of the table like an axe.

In the silence of the room, the explosive bang of the impact was like a shock. Keys flew through the air and clattered on the floor.

It felt liberating. The chains of convention broken.'

'But what she saw almost made her drop her hand and spill the salt from her fingers.

Another doe stood in front of her, looking at her intently. Her ears twitched in excitement, and now that Temari was paying attention to her, she tilted her head as if to ask, "Are you finally ready?”

Seemingly ignoring the fact that, as a deer, she should have been shy, she stretched her head purposefully toward Temari's hand as if the salt were her rightful property that she was claiming.

Overwhelmed by the series of events, Temari forgot to keep up the mask behind which she had hidden her feelings. Eyes and mouth wide open in joyful amazement, she absorbed the magic of the moment.'

'Thud,... thud,... thud.’ With almost disturbing regularity, the throwing darts found their target one after the other. The divots in the simple wooden door, and in the photo that had been pinned to, it clearly showed the learning curve —and dedication— of the thrower, given the sheer amount of marks that were clearly visible and the destructed state of the picture.'

'She slid off him, immediately went to the couch, putting space between them and covering herself with a spare blanket. The soft fabric felt comforting, like a hug she desperately needed.'
