So Sakuyaâs definitely got some weird personal boundaries when it comes to family
And by âweirdâ I mean things that make his classmates go âuhâ
Even by family standards, Team M are waaaay too comfortable with each other
Like Belkia struggling to pick an outfit for the day so he comes into the living room with two shirts and neither of them are being worn and asks which one he should pick, Shamrock forgot to put his eyepatch back on after a shower and the nerves around his injured eye are Fucked so he doesnât notice immediately, especially when no one comments cuz they donât really care beyond suddenly remembering Sham cares
Injury care is common so knowing each otherâs bodies down to weird birth marks and scars is also common
And sometimes Sakuya talks about how annoying it is that Belkiaâs fancy underwear gets bundled up in his laundry and this is why he wants to do it as itâs own separate set but itâs just easier to keep it all separated by load type rather than individual
He doesnât realize his friends are giving him a weird look until heâs done ranting about Otogiri forgetting she had gum in her pocket (Iyo kinda gets it tho cuz sheâs at the point where she doesnât want her underwear washed with her dadâs things because uh thatâs embarrassing?? But her relationship with Sakuya has gotten kinda weird since she knows heâs a vampire thanks to Sagami but he doesnât know she knows)
Sakuya tenses up a little, defensively asking âwhat??â
Koyuki and Ryuusei look at each other.
Koyuki asks, âThe pink haired guy? Not the nurse lady?â
Sakuya relaxes because oh okay yeah. Yeah, right. That WOULD be weird to these two⊠âYeah. Otogiriâs stuff is normal. Belkia bedazzles his stuff.â
âBedazzleâŠâ
âYeah. Heâs got one of those machines that took off in the⊠Early two thooousaaaands I wanna sayâŠ? And he uses it to stick rhinestones to things not even the most decora girl would think to stick rhinestones to.â
âIncluding⊠His underwear.â Ryuusei looks disturbed. Sakuya looks tired.

thanks @bluelovestoship for letting me spit ball this nonsense to you, love you đ
Exhausted 20 something older brother of 8 siblings Ash and feral as all fuck servamp of obsession Shiro/mahi
Shiro looks mid twenties, has serious gifted kid burnout. Picture a 20s radio host mixed with a prohibition bootlegger and thatâs basically his aesthetic. Shiro keeps his spear in the form of an umbrella, for that sexy gentleman vibe.
Itâs also another dragon mahi, bc I literally have no chill
Shiro wears nothing but suits and Ash has never worn anything over 30$
Ash works like 2 jobs and is in college. Give him a break. Lives alone in a flat, visits his siblings often.
the others vamp siblings are between 2 and 20.
I will take my twin headcanon to the grave (Fight me on this) so Ash and Tsubaki are twins. They have a good relationship, Tsu mainly takes care of the younger siblings.
Tsubaki x Sakuya bc itâs my keyboard and I can do whatever I want.
Servamp of lies Sakuya
Chaos servamps and their perpetually exhausted and concerned eves vs the C3
Subclass background boyfriends! Ryusei and koyuki being so done with Shiroâs obvious pining for his eve
Thatâs all I have right now. With update you if I have more brain worms.
It's already July 23rd in Japan, and to celebrate Ryuusei's birthday, the official Servamp Account posted this image along with a caption
"Today 7/23 is the birthday of Ryuusei! He's Mahiru's friend since Elementary school, and he can have a rough personality. He, Koyuki, Mahiru and Sakuya were always hanging together. His favorite food is Yakisoba Bread."

Ryuusei: Whoa, you look awful. Didnât sleep well?
Mahiru: Yeah⊠Had a nightmare I was being crushed to death and woke up gasping for air. Turns out Kuro had fallen asleep on my chest at some point in the night.
okay so basically, this post is an excuse to talk about Mahiru and Sakuya lol, but I promise it'll be super interesting.
If you've been involved with anime, manga, donghua, pretty much any east asian form of media (especially Chinese), for long enough, you'll likely have run across a set of animals that reappear across the board.
The White Tiger of the West
The Azure Dragon of the East
The Vermilion Bird of the South
and The Black Tortoise of the North
These are the Four Symbols, a group of mythical creatures appearing among the Chinese constellations and are primarily viewed as guardians of the cardinal directions, but, they also have a number of other traits assigned to them, including colors, seasons, elements, emotions, virtues, among other things.
Now that we have the most basic of basic backgrounds out of the way, we can move on!
Note: Even though these creatures are of Chinese origin, I will be using their Japanese names since Servamp is a Japanese series. Please understand, thank you!
Koyuki and Ryuusei are rather minor characters, not even possessing family names, however, they have the very lucky position of being Mahiru's childhood best friends, and also two people Sakuya cares about very much. Their names are the greatest point of interest.
Koyuki's name is written with the kanji for tiger (è) and snow (éȘ). This makes the connection VERY clear. He's Byakko, the White Tiger!
Ryuusei, meanwhile, has his name written with the characters for dragon (éŸ) and ruler (ćŸ), but it's also the sounds that compose the Japanese name for the Azure Dragon switched around (Seiryuu)!
As characters, both in name, personality, and appearance, they're meant to be opposites, which totally makes sense, considering their Symbols are opposite from each other.
So we have half of the set. What about Mahiru and Sakuya?
Mahiru is relatively easy. His name is written with the characters for true and noon (çæŒ) and means "midday." His favorite color is also orange! Naturally, this makes him Suzaku, the Vermilion Bird, whose corresponding time of day is midday, and Vermilion is a brilliant shade of reddish-orange. His father, Touma, also has the symbolic animal of the peacock, which is the animal most commonly used as inspiration for depictions of Suzaku.
Which brings us to Sakuya. At first look, Sakuya doesn't seem to have much in common with Genbu, the Black Tortoise. His name is unmistakably meant to invoke images of spring time, and his favorite colors are firefly green (the color of his tracksuit, and green is also the color of the Azure Dragon, whose season is Spring) and neons, like you see on his headphones. So, what gives? Well, simple! Sakuya's more subtle references to Genbu are both meant to be a reference to his nature as a liar (winter pretending to be spring) and to his allies! The "black" in Sakuya's character is his ties to Tsubaki of Melancholy, and each Elite wears a black bandana somewhere on their person. The winter in his character is meant to express that he's a vampire! Same with the fact that Genbu's assigned time of day is midnight, and Sakuya pretends to be a normal human who can walk in the sun.
I'm hoping that all this means that, in the future, Koyuki and Ryuusei will be able to play a bigger role, especially with the careful consideration and clues something as simple as their names points us towards. Given Servamp's emphasis on the importance of a name, though, I'm really not surprised!
On a larger scale, I feel like this is meant to all emphasize the importance Mahiru and Sakuya's relationship is going to play on a grander scale than it already does. Currently the series is set in Summer, Mahiru's season, yet the weather is behaving as if it's Winter, Sakuya's.
The "yao" assigned to them also reflects their inseparable nature from one another, with Genbu's being for "Greater Yin," (which when written in Chinese is ć€Șé° and also refers to the moon) while Suzaku represents "Greater Yang," which is written as ć€Șéœ and, you guessed is, is another way of referring to the sun!
This is COMPLETELY separate *gestures above* all of that, but I wanted to bring up how Mahiru's name is written with the kanji for "true" and Sakuya's alias under Tsubaki being "the liar" is also proof positive that these two... Need each other to be balanced.
They are winter and summer, night and day, water and fire, lies and truth, vampire and human, Melancholy... And Hope.
Kuro can see it, in the way his folding isnât as neat, in the way the vegetables in their dinner arenât as uniformly chopped, in the way his head bobs during school lessons, his laughter isnât as loud, how he doesnât check half so well before he crosses the street and needs the ever watchful hand of Sakuya to drag him back from the curb, a shout on the subclassâs lips, scolding and fussing about the car that had just whizzed past their little group.
Mahiru is tired, but he refuses to rest.
And itâs driving Kuro mad.
Itâs as Mahiru is jerked and prodded, worried and fussed over by his trio of school friends, that Kuro makes a decision.
His Eve will get some sleep, whether he wants to or not.
Thankfully for him, he knows Mahiru wants it. The frustrating part is that his stupid, incredible, wonderful human doesnât think heâs earned it. Not yet. Not when there was still more to do.
Which meant, joy of joys⊠He needed some help.
Good thing he had three ready made volunteers right there with him on the curb.
Now to convince them.
***
The easiest part, by far, was getting them to go along with his plan. Slipping into Mahiruâs bag to use the cellphone Tooru had bought him (every time he thought about it, he still couldnât believe it. His own phone, his own clothes, his own games, his own⊠Everything, really), he sent a single text to three different numbers.
Mahiruâs exhausted. Help me get him to chill out?
The hard partâŠ
âHey, Mahiru! Itâs been a while since we all last had a sleepover, right?â
âHuh? Oh, yeah, it hasâŠâ
âSince weâre already going to be walking you home to make sure you donât wander out into trafficâŠâ
âIt was an accident!â
âParty at Mahiru-samaâs place~!â
âWould you stop with that stupid⊠Fine! But Sakkun is paying for the food!â
⊠Wasnât actually that hard? But, well. Leave it to the grungy joker to just⊠Steamroll his way into Mahiruâs place, invited or not. And become a steamed cabbage in the process.
The power of Mahiru-sama is frightening indeedâŠ

The first order of business when the five of them arrive at Mahiruâs apartment is taken care of handily by, once again, Sakuya.
âPizza time!â he crows, tapping the order into a website Kuro only vaguely recognizes the name of. Itâs not a delivery app, but the websiteâs own page, and while heâs busy with that, Kuro hops out of Mahiruâs bag, ready to go fetch blankets and pillows from the linen closet in order to set them all up.
Except Mahiruâs two human friends beat him to it.
All the better, he thinks, as he hops up onto the couch to watch them spread things out right in front of the TV. The living room is small, the area theyâve chosen to occupy even more so, but itâs what he would have chosen for Mahiru, too, to cram them all together, to surround his Eve with the simple pressure and warmth of his loved ones crowded close.
Not for the first time, and certainly not the last, Kuro is so⊠Grateful for Mahiruâs friends. Before him, and even after him, they will love Mahiru like a brother, like a family, know him in ways he canât, the same way Gear knows him in ways Mahiru never will.
And thatâs fine. To be known is to be loved, and more than anyone, Mahiru deserves it.
âMahiru, can you help Ryuu-chan? Iâm gonna go make sure Sakuya doesnât burn your kitchen down trying to make popcorn.â
âHey! Iâll have you know, Iâm always the one who makes the popcorn when Shamrock canât!â
âAnd how much of it do you burn?â
âLess than you, so nyeh.â
⊠Maybe he should go watch them.
âAh, Kuro, donât get your fur on the counter!â
âCanât dealâŠâ
At the least, Mahiru seems to already be feeling better. Itâs like magic. The best kind Kuro has ever seen.
***
Kuro spends the night as a cat, nestled in Mahiruâs lap or lying across his back, little paws kneading his Eveâs flesh and purring up a storm, extra sweet and extra soothing, while the other three pile around them. Mahiru is⊠Quiet. But not a bad quiet, no. A good quiet, letting the presence of the other people in their home wash over him, their bickering and their teasing, not a host but just a friend, just another kid, a kid with greasy fingers and a half drunk bottle of cola and two boxes of extra large pepperoni pizzas with cheesy bread set out before them.
âWhere the heck do you find these pizza places Iâve never heard of?â Ryuusei asks after a particularly long cheese stretch has him craning his head back and holding his arms out, making the other three laugh, âThis is great.â
âVampire SNS,â Sakuya tells him proudly, and snickers once more at the tongue click it nets him.
Much to Kuroâs surprise, after building their little nest, the green haired vampire had graciously given up his preferred spot next to Mahiru without a word, instead settling himself shoulder to shoulder with the short one, Ryuusei, while he and Koyuki had pressed themselves up against Mahiru like they were trying to merge with him. Itâs a tangle of arms and legs, like cats lying one on top of the other, physical closeness that speaks volumes of the emotional one theyâve cultivated with each other, and which they were slowly, Kuro felt, trying to ease him into.
It was a strange feeling. Being included.
But it wasnât one he hated by any means.
Ryuusei flops his head against Mahiruâs arm, cheek squishing ridiculously as he squints at the screen. âWho picked this again?â
The crunching from Mahiruâs right stops, and a bowl of half eaten popcorn, buttery and with the perfect amount of salt, is nudged his Eveâs way. Wordlessly, Mahiru grabs up a big handful of it, stuffs it in his mouth with a knowing little smile, a sort of carelessness Kuro can never seem to invoke on his own.
The shuffling of fabric, and Koyuki leans onto Mahiruâs shoulder as well, the barest hint of a pout to his voice. âDoes it matter? Even bad movies are fun when weâre together.â
âYouâre cheesier than this pizza,â Sakuya teases, and Mahiru grins, laughs, finally says something, the exhaustion all but gone from his voice.
âThat means Koyuki definitely picked it.â
âSo youâre the one responsible!â Ryuusei shouts, and Koyuki flicks popcorn at him, bounces it right off his head.
âShut up! You can change it, yâknow.â
âWell, weâre already this far in,â Mahiru muses, and Sakuya quietly plucks the floor tainted popcorn up to place on a napkin, âMight as well finish it.â
Kuro is⊠So glad that Mahiru has friends who can do this for him. To do the things he canât. This sense of total normalcy, of being just another teenager⊠Itâs not really something he can help with. Not really. He knows heâs the type to overthink, to become discouraged when his efforts donât get immediate results.
But now Mahiru is laughing again.
Itâs everything he could have asked for.
***
Hours upon hours later, the only light in the room is from the flickering TV screen, and the only sounds are the soft breaths of four teenage boys, fast asleep right there on the floor.
Kuro finally rouses himself, gets up, stretches, and carefully picks his way down Mahiruâs back. Only then does he allow himself to transform back into a human, cracking his neck, his back, and sighing heavily at the relief it grants his stiff joints.
Itâs time to get to work. All that effort would be meaningless if Mahiru woke to a mess, so clean up crew Kuro shall be.
First go the soda bottles. Back into the fridge, without a label or a care for who had drunk from what, because itâs not like those four cared anyway, but Mahiru hated to waste food. Honestly, Kuro was in agreement on that much, but especially when it came to his favorites. So, twisting each cap tightly back into place, he made sure to set them up in plain sight so that theyâd be finished in the morning (and if not by their owners, by him), blocking the light of the fridge with his own body and the tails of his coat so as not to disturb the quartet of friends.
Next were the pizza boxes. Each one was completely empty, but that was no surprise, given that there were two shared between the five of them. Even the little banana peppers included had been devoured. If Kuro had to guess⊠Mahiru. For some godforsaken reason, his Eve adored things that set his mouth on fire, and no amount of âitâs not that spicy!â would change Kuroâs opinion that Mahiru, sweet faced, stubborn, wonderful Mahiru, just wanted to see what the fires of hell tasted like.
(And maybe he was a bit of a baby when it came to peppers, but clearly that wasnât his fault)
Onto the counters the pizza boxes went.
Next came the bowl of popcorn, filled with nothing but unpopped kernels, then the plates, then the napkins, then the painstaking process of picking up every infernal piece of popped corn that had been jokingly thrown about between friends with zero thought for who would have to clean it up all up.
Considering how many Sakuya had tossed, he had a feeling the other vampire had known Kuro would take it upon himself to tidy up their garbage, and found himself cracking an annoyed, if fond, smile.
Little brat.
Mess more or less taken care of, Kuro had one last task to complete, and fetching the fluffiest quilt he could find from the closet that hadnât already been used to pad out the hard tile in front of their TV, he carefully, carefully, spread it out over the pile of sleeping boys. Not a one stirred, not even Mahiru.
His smile turned ever so slightly bitter.
Well, that was fine. That was good, even, because it meant that, more than heâd thought, Mahiru had needed this night, this little slice of being normal, of simplicity.
Looking at each face in turn⊠He thought that maybe, all of them had.
Himself included.
Tucking himself into the crook of Mahiruâs neck was easy, a warm, furry weight that had his Eve curling up even more, ever so slightly, setting off a chain reaction as each teenager also shifted, one or two murmuring in their sleep, shuffling closer to each other like small birds seeking safety and comfort during a storm.
And that was fine, too. Kuro would watch over their dreams, every one.
