Sero had never been much of a worrier before. He was always calm, cool, and collected. Anxiety and nerves in genera, had never really effected him accept for a few times at UA when they were forced to fight villains or fight each other.

But being nervous over a date was something completely new to him. 

Hell, he wasn’t even this nervous when he asked Awase to go on the date with him.

Now, standing in front of his mirror adjusting the fifth shirt he tried on that night, he couldn’t settle the butterflies in his stomach.

A chime rang out from his phone, breaking Sero from his anxious thoughts. Walking over, he unlocked the phone and opened his messages as it buzzed a few more times. They were texts from his friends and he couldn’t help but smile, every one of them wishing him luck.

A little confidence seeped back into him as he took one last look in the mirror. He gave himself a confident smile before grabbing his wallet and phone and walking out the door.

The walk towards the class 1-B door was short but Sero used that time to call a car so that it would be there by the time they were ready to go.

The closer he got to Awase’s room, the more he felt his hands begin to sweat. The nerves were starting to get to him again and he found himself standing outside his date’s door, not making the move to knock.

Deep breaths, Hanta. You can do this, he told himself. With one last exhale, he reached out to knock on the door when it opened up suddenly and quickly, causing him to freeze with his arm in the air.

Both boys were caught off guard and neither said anything, both just looking at one another. Sero’s eyes scanned the other, taking in his dark maroon button up shirt and black skinny jeans. A blush crept up onto his face when he realized he was staring but he couldn’t help it, the other just looked so good.

“A-ah sorry! I was just…umm…” he tried to think of an excuse for why he was just standing there but none came to mind. 

Awase cleared his throat and stepped closer to Sero, causing the other to blush even more as he closed the door to his room. “It’s fine. You’re late though.” There was no annoyance or malice in his voice, which Sero was glad for. It was also then, standing so close to the other, that he noticed the tips of Awase’s ears were red and Sero’s nerves flew out the window, his thoughts replaced with how fast his heart was beating just standing there with the other.

“Yeah, I couldn’t figure out what to wear at first,” Sero laughed and rubbed the back of his neck, opting to leave out the fact that he was actually on time, just didn’t knock on the other’s door for the three minutes he was standing there for.

“Well, you look good.” Awase had spoke so softly and quietly that he was unsure if he heard the other correctly. But, before he could ask, Awase was already grabbing his hand and pulling him down the hall towards the exit.

The air around them was silent but not uncomfortable by any means. Sero relished in the feeling of the other’s hand in his as they walked side by side to the driveway of the dorms entrance. When he suddenly stopped, Awase stumbled backwards and looked up at Sero in confusion. “I thought we were going somewhere?”

Looking around, Sero spotted headlights of the car coming towards them and waved it over. “Yeah, but it’s too far away to walk,” he responded as he smirked at the other, who glared at him in suspicion but didn’t ask anything more.

The ride to the restaurant was not a silent one, both boys talking about nothing and everything. Well, more like Sero talking and asking questions about Awase while listening intently to every little thing he had said. 

All the while, Sero had a soft smile on his face, especially when they got to a subject Awase was passionate about: hero work.

That conversation was cut short as the driver told them that they made it to their destination. When they stepped out of the car, Awase gave Sero an incredulous look once he got a glimpse of the very expensive, very fancy seaside restaurant. “You’re kidding, right?”

“Nope! Only the best for our first date,” Sero said smuggly as he reached for Awase’s hand, squeezing it slightly and smiling even wider when the other squeezed back before rolling his eyes, a small grin on his face.

“Well shit. When you told me to dress fancy, I sure as hell didn’t expect this.”

who believes in love at first sight? Sero watches too many disney movies as a kid hc that he has younger sisters that make him watch them.

who started liking the other first? Awase did, though it was Sero who said something first. 

who is more likely to suggest a romantic, candle-lit dinner? Again, Awase. Sero’s a little oblivious sometimes, so Awase is the one to suggest dates in general.

who’s behind the wheel more often during road trips? Sero would! He loves driving, it makes him feel good. 

who sets up the tent and who gathers firewood during a camping trip? They do it all together. They whole point is to spend time together right?

who hooks bait during a fishing trip? who catches more fish? Sero hooks the bait, Awase is scared of worms for whatever reason. Though Awase is the one who catches the most fish. 

who insists on learning how to ballroom dance? Neither, they’re both pretty clumsy on their feet tbh

who goes all out on the other’s birthday? Sero does. He thinks Awase deserves everything, which he does, so Sero gives him anything and everything. 

who sings louder while cooking? while showering? Sero sings in the shower, but Awase definitely sings while he cooks. They’re both pretty good singers, though they won’t ever sing in public. 

who teases the other for said singing? Awase teases Sero because all Sero sings are love songs. How cheesy romantic.

who insists on checking their zodiac sign compatibility every so often? Sero does. He doesn’t mind those kinds of things. He also likes to be reassured by words.

who drags the other to fortune tellers at fairs? Again, Sero. He thinks their fun, while Awase just tries not to be bothered by the fact that he’s around too many strangers.
