“I’ll remember that the next time I order from this little place I know back in Brooklyn.”

      “  why  did you offer to come along if you were just planning on complaining the entire time  ?   ”

       “Twenty bucks says that our weekend off gets cancelled by some ‘end of the world’ emergency.” Claire finally got him out the apartment and planned on spending the weekend camping nearby. They were even planning on bringing Lucky along. 

             she’s got her thumb jammed in the direction of the living room with a wide grin on her face  –––  beyond her shoulder is frankie curled up,  fast asleep between chuck and lucky on the floor.            “  i don’t think we have to worry too much about him pulling on the dogs’ fur anymore. also i finally got him to sleep,  so i think i’ve earned triple baby mama points for the day.  ”

         her hand’s extended between them,  palm up and open and knocking gently against his jean-clad thigh.  she’s quiet,  real quiet as she yawns and tucks her head into his shoulder,  but the  nonverbal  message is sent loud and clear   :   hold my hand,  please.
