At the beginning of the new millennium Pacoima Elementary School was ranked as one of the worst in California, but in the intervening years there have been two significant changes to the neighborhood (linked only by one mural). A new school principal and change to charter school status has transformed the school into one of the highest performing in the northeast San Fernando Valley, and a few years later local artist Levi Ponce gave residents even more reason to admire and take pride in the Van Nuys Blvd corridor that soon became known as Mural Mile. Before marrying Levi in 2017, Sarah Ackerley, aka Seraphim One, had published five successful children’s books, so in 2016 it was only natural that the two should combine their talents to create this Mural Mile work encouraging the aspirational dreams of Pacoima youth.  @seraphim_one  @leviponce  @pacoimacharter  @pacoimabeautiful
