Summary: Better than a movie, a dramatic romantic show. At first sight, I knew you are my other half. Don't pretend you didn't hear me, it won't work. I'm gonna shout my lungs out! - The most Rev Vennett could do with his parents this time is to get a smuggled-in movie called Klaxon, which apparently is a movie Rev doesn't like. Sera Phim is neutral about it, but Bella Donna and Mark Dracula love it, and they want to go to a real beach. They actually make it there. Sera doesn't care about the beach, so she hangs out with Bella. She learns just how much the movie affected her. Word Count: 3,350 A/N: RIP Sera Phim, you would've loved i-dle. Also, I forgot if Mark's affected by sunlight the way (modern) vampires usually are, so for this fanfic's sake, pretend there's some difference between sunlight outside KADE and inside KADE. I also don't know how they went to the beach, so don't think too much about it.
look at me, look at me!
Sera Phim wasn't sure how Mark Dracula managed to deal with Rev Vennett's constant yelling, but he must've spent enough time to not be phazed when Rev barged into his room—but in all fairness, Sera and Bella were in his space. Mark, not so much—and started yelling about a movie his parents gave him. Bella Donna, on the other hand, didn't seem as accostumed to this, if her flinch meant anything.
While Rev was ranting, Sera checked out the movie his parents gave. It was titled Klaxon, and it seemed to be about a group of friends having fun at the beach. Sera knew what beaches were, but she never went to one. Her lack of experience there made her a little interested in this.
She interrupted Rev's rant to ask, "How do we watch this?"
"You can't," he said. "We don't have anything to watch it on. And even if we did, there's no point in watching it. It doesn't help me leave this stupid school, but even if it did, I hate that movie! Nothing happens in it! It's just some girls going to the beach, and the main character may or may not start dating the lifeguard by the end of it, but we don't even know that because it's too vague if the characters reciprocate each other's feelings! That's it! There's no conflict anywhere! I don't know why my parents think I like it!"
"That sounds like something you'd like," Mark innocently said.
Rev gave him an incredulous look. "Did you hear anything I just said?"
"Sera, can I have that?" Bella took the movie from her. She looked it over. "I can probably get something to watch this with."
Mark grinned. "Can you get it by tonight? If you can, then we can have a sleepover! It's going to be so fun! We'll have snacks and—"
"I never agreed to that," Rev quickly said. "This is my room too! I have a say in this!"
"Don't worry about him," Mark told the girls. "I'll convince him!"
Sera was pretty sure girls weren't allowed to sleep in the boys' rooms and vice versa, but since she also went into the boys' washroom when Rev was stuck in the void, she probably didn't have much to say. She was going to ask if Bella needed any help, but she was already gone. She didn't have anything else planned for today, so all she could do now was be entertained by Rev's anger and Mark's obliviousness.
. . .
When the movie credits rolled, the snacks were gone, and Sera would've expected everyone to be tired, considering how late it was. She was proven wrong when Rev said dryly, "Watching Klaxon can be considered psychological torture."
"I liked it," said Mark.
"It was enjoyable," said Bella.
Rev looked to Sera for her opinion. She shrugged and said, "I liked that the main character was a girl, and her lifeguard love interest was also a girl."
"I guess I know why you like this now." He looked away from her and pointed at Mark. "I know you like anything that's colourful and happy, and this movie is so smiley and bright that it makes my eyes hurt. But"—he pointed to Bella—"why do you like this?"
Bella pointed to herself, then quickly dropped her hand to her side. She hesitated. "I just like how happy it is. It's a picturesque world filled with happiness."
"That's not realistic."
"I know, but it's a nice break from the realistic world. It makes the beach look fun."
"The beach does look fun," agreed Mark. "Maybe we should all go there together."
Rev scoffed. "If I can't step one foot off school property, then there's no way we're getting to a freaking beach."
"How far would a beach be from here?" Mark asked him.
"I think we're in some sort of forest-mountain-thing—"
"Very descriptive," said Bella.
"Shut up. Anyway, in a place like this, a beach would be thousands of kilometers away. Excluding the question of how we're going to get there, there's no way we'd be allowed to go that far because, like I said, I can't even step one foot off the property before I'm in the pricipal's office."
"We could try," said Sera.
"Why do you want to go to the beach?" he questioned.
"I don't."
"Then why—"
"That's three against one," noted Bella. "Since we have a majority, we should try to go to the beach."
Rev rolled his eyes. "Good luck with that. You can all fail at trying to leave and experience what I did—and when you fail, I will say, 'I told you so.'"
. . .
They managed to go to the beach.
Surprisingly, Rev wasn't angry about being wrong. On the contrary, he was actually smiling. It was a weird look on the guy that yelled every other sentence.
He and Sera stood in front of a shop selling beach supplies. Sera saw what was apparently a lemonade stand that probably a child owned on the way here, but there was no child when Sera went, and she remembered that the characters in Klaxon used money. She didn't think she had any money, so she stole the money that was there in the open. Mark scolded her for stealing, but it was because of her that they had money to buy swimsuits and attempt to look like they belonged. Sera had to wear a face mask to cover the eyes on her cheeks, and she had to wear a hat to cover the angel wings on the sides of her head. Mark had to buy an umbrella. Bella and Rev were fortunate to look human.
Sera and Rev had paid for their swimsuits and were waiting for Bella and Mark to choose theirs and pay for it. Rev was basking in the breeze that came from the sea, and his joy was making Sera uncomfortable.
She couldn't take it anymore, though, so she asked him, "Why are you so happy?"
"Isn't it obvious?" He spread his arms out. "We're outside! We outsmarted that principal, so we're finally free from that stupid school! We can go wherever we want and do whatever we want!"
She furrowed her brows. "Where do we go?"
"If you don't have anywhere you want to go, you can come with me. My parents will be fine with letting you stay as long as you want."
Sera glanced at the store. She couldn't see Mark or Bella through the windows. She wished one of them would come. Bella could give Rev a potion or Mark could be himself, but whichever one it was, she didn't care as long as they brought back the old Rev. This nice Rev was starting to scare her.
Fortunately for her, Bella and Mark were finally done choosing their swimsuits soon. Sera had noticed that the boys tended to have basic swim trunks, so her attention was almost immediately on Bella instead of Mark. She had chosen a bikini that she clearly wasn't too comfortable wearing, if her crossing arms meant anything. Her choice of swimwear looked like the one the main character from Klaxon wore.
Rev raised an eyebrow at her. "Was keeping the hat necessary?"
She clutched the brim of her witch hat defensively with one hand. "It's not like there's anywhere to put it..."
"She can wear her hat if she wants," Mark said from underneath his rainbow umbrella that looked like it was meant for a child. "More importantly, let's go to the beach! I want to learn how to swim!"
Sera soon discovers that the beach is horrible. There are too many people, the sun is too bright, the sound of the waves is too loud, and she was starting to wonder if staying at KADE would've been better. She didn't have time to question that out loud before the Mark ran off. Rev grumbled that Mark was going to drown himself before he followed. That left Sera with Bella.
"Are you going to swim?" she asked her.
"No," she answered, adjusting her hat. "I don't have time for swimming."
"Then why are you here?"
"Everyone else was going."
"You didn't have to join us."
She stood up straighter. "Whatever. It's too late now. I'm going to go now."
She started walking away. After a few steps, she paused to turn around. "I didn't say you could follow me."
"Where are we going?" Sera asked.
She sighed. "If you have to come with me, I'm looking for a drink stand."
Sera frowned as she tried to think of what a drink stand was. She thought of Klaxon. "Do you mean that bar thing in the movie?"
"Yes, the stand at the beach where you can buy drinks."
"Rev says those have alcohol."
"I'll just get water." Bella started walking away again.
Sera followed. She recalled that in Klaxon, that was where the main character had her first conversation with her love interest. The scene happened at night, but it was the afternoon for them. The movie could also make the scene have as little background characters as they wanted, so that meant there were a lot more people now than there were in the movie scene.
Bella shuddered as she wrinkled her nose. "I can smell how bad the drinks taste from over here..."
"I hate it here," Sera stated.
"Let's go somewhere else..." She looked around. She muttered, "Maybe I'm doing this wrong. Maybe I should look for the lifeguard first."
"The lifeguard?"
Her head whirled around. Remembering that Sera was there, she sputtered out with slightly pink cheeks, "To make sure Mark doesn't drown! I don't know if Rev can swim, but I do know that Rev might consider letting Mark drown, or at least say he considered that. We need someone who can actually swim!"
Sera nodded but was reminded that the main character in Klaxon's love interest was a lifeguard. She followed Bella, and while they found lifeguard chairs, they couldn't find any actual lifeguards.
"Do humans want to see other humans drown?" Bella grumbled.
"Maybe humans can swim," Sera suggested.
"In Klaxon, the main character met the love interest by almost drowning, so not every human!"
"Are you going to drown now?"
Her eyes widened. "Huh?"
She gestured towards her. "You're basically dressed in the main character's swimsuit, and you went to the place she had her first interaction with her love interest. You're also looking for a lifeguard."
"W-Well—"
"Do you want to experience Klaxon?"
Bella pulled her hat low. She was scowling, but it was clear that her face was red. "You're talking too loud..."
That was a yes then. Sera doubted Bella could find a lifeguard girlfriend in less than one day when even in Klaxon, the main couple was implied to be together at the end of the movie, and the entire movie happened in one month. Sera also felt a little bad for Bella. She knew she must've been excited to experience this.
"I have extra money," she said. "Do you want to get yourself ice cream?"
"Are...Are you going somewhere?" Bella asked.
"I'm going to look for Rev and Mark. Make sure Rev didn't drown Mark."
Bella agreed to go get ice cream. Now that Sera was aware of Klaxon's influence on Bella, she figured Bella's decision was impacted by the fact that on the main character's unofficial date with her love interest, they went to an ice cream parlour. She doubted there was anything that fancy here—she wasn't even sure there was anywhere selling ice cream here—but she needed Bella gone for some time for this to work.
While Sera looked for Rev and Mark, she also looked for anything unattended, just like the lemonade stand from earlier. She eventually found an empty purse. She was planning to only take a few things, but she forgot what it looked like in Klaxon, so she took the whole bag.
Mark and Rev were apparently done with swimming and were now playing in the sand. Rev looked bored, but his face changed from shock to annoyance when he saw her new purse. Mark noticed, and even he seemed to realize that stealing was bad.
Before Rev could yell at her, she said, "I need to recreate the love confession scene."
"The one in Klaxon?" said Mark. "Where the love interest shouted from the top of a car how much they loved the main character?"
"That one."
He gasped. "Sera has a crush? On who?"
She was pretty sure she didn't have a crush on Bella, but emotions could be confusing, so just in case, she said, "It's for Bella."
His excited grin was replaced with a frown. "Wait, I thought Bella was Rev's girlfriend..."
Rev gave him a judgmental look. "Bella and I were never together..."
"Seriously? Never?" His smile was soon back. "Well, at least that means she's free for Sera! You got this, Sera! Go get your girlfriend!"
"I need someone to drive."
"I can learn!"
"No, you moron, you'll crash the car." Rev pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed. "Sera, I've never seen you get the idea to do something—"
"I haven't?"
"At least not that often. That means you won't take no for an answer?"
"Probably not."
He sighed again, but it sounded less aggressive this time. "Okay then. I'll drive you."
She raised an eyebrow. "You will?"
"I can't drive, but between me and Mark, I'm the more trustworthy one behind the wheel."
"But I can learn," Mark sadly said.
Mark was then tasked with finding and getting Bella to them when Sera and Rev were ready. For now, he accompanied them to find out which car belonged to the car key in the purse. They eventually found out it was a large van. Inside it was a megaphone, which could make her voice louder, if Klaxon was correct. After Rev figured out how the car worked, which didn't take as much time as she expected, they found a roundabout for them to circle while Sera gave her speech. Mark was then sent to find Bella.
It was after Mark left that Sera, sitting on top of the van with her megaphone, realized she didn't actually know what she would tell Bella. She decided she would use what she could remember from Klaxon as her inspiration and go from there.
. . .
Mark found Bella faster than Sera expected. The second Bella was into view, Sera put the megaphone close to her mouth and announced, "Bella, I'm just going to say it: I love you. Every time I see you dress up for someone else, it breaks my heart. When I see you talking or hanging out with other people, I get jealous because the truth is, I want you all to myself. I see a future with you, and I want to be married to you. I want to be your girlfriend, and you can write my name in your notebooks, and I'll write yours in mine. I want people to know you're mine and that I'm yours. I want to talk to you for hours at a time and stare at the ceiling while I hold back what's on my mind."
"Is that a song lyric?" Mark called out from the ground.
Sera ignored him. "I want to be on sleep next to you when you sleep and stay with you until you wake up. I want you forever. I know you don't feel the same way, and I'm probably just another person you know, but I seriously love you. And I don't love easily. I think you're so cute, and I want to see your face more often. You're my baby, and I want you to give attention to me. I don't care about anything else. Just you and me against the world, baby."
Bella had taken off her witch hat, and she was covering her face with it. She was hiding behind Mark, who was beaming with pride. Other people had started looking at them.
"Rev," Sera asked without the megaphone, "is Bella hearing me?"
The van had sunglasses. Rev was wearing them as he drove. "I can honk and embarrass her."
"Okay."
Rev honked. Bella hid even further behind Mark, so Sera told Rev to honk more. Rev kept on honking until what sounded like sirens came. Sera recognized them as police officers. It seemed her robberies were catching up to her.
. . .
Sera and Rev had to give the van and the purse back to the owner. It was too late to give the money back to the lemonade stand owner, so there wasn't anything they could do about it now. They were then arrested, but Mark refused to be seperated, so he took himself and Bella to be arrested too. They now all sat in a jail cell together.
Bella was sitting far from Sera. It made her sad, for some reason. She couldn't have much time to think about it because Rev, who was uncharacteristically giddy, said, "This is perfect. I didn't have a phone, so I couldn't call my parents before, but we can call my parents now. For this to work, Mark, Sera, we're all going to be adopted siblings. Bella can't be an adopted sibling because Sera just confessed her love for her—"
Bella bit her lip.
"—and it would be a little weird if I helped my non-sibling when my sibling was right there. So, Bella, you're going to be our next-door neighbour. You're very good friends with us, but your parents tragically died in a car accident recently, so we went to the beach to make you happier. Sera also decided this would for some reason be the perfect time to confess her feelings, and I decided to help my supposed sister. If we can do this right, we'll be able to go to my house and be free from KADE."
"We get to stay at Rev's—oops, I mean our house," Mark corrected with a smile. "Maybe I can take everyone to my house later!"
"Sure, we can do that, but first, we need to have believable relationships. The big picture is Rev Vennett, Mark Vennett, and Sera Vennett are siblings—and we're all going to have 'Vennett' as our last name because my parents are humans, so I have the most human last name—and Bella Donna is our recently orphaned next-door neighbour we took to the beach to try to cheer her up. We'll discuss quickly discuss specifics of our relationships now. You...not-vampire, get over here."
While Mark happily went to Rev's side, Sera carefully went to Bella's. Bella avoided looking at her.
"Are you mad?" Sera asked her.
"No," she replied simply. After a second, she asked, "Did you mean what you said?"
"The confession?"
She nodded.
She was going to say no, but that felt wrong. It was weird, since it was supposed to be fake, but something stopped her from saying it. Instead, she said, "I wanted to give you your Klaxon experience."
"So it wasn't real..." She was pretty sure Bella sounded disappointed, but she wasn't sure.
She felt bad, so she said, "It can be real if you want."
"I'll think about it." After another second passed, Bella said, "I know your intention was good, so...thanks, Sera."
She shrugged. "I didn't do much."
"Maybe..." Bella turned to look at her. Her smile wasn't big, and it was shy, but it was genuine. She looked pretty like this.
"Hey, lovers who may or may not actually be lovers!" interrupted Mark. He intertwined his arm with Sera's. "Me and Rev are done talking, so time to switch partners! Sera, let's talk about our relationship! So what I'm thinking—"
Suddenly, they weren't in the jail cell anymore. They were now in a familiar principal's office, and a familiar principal was looking at all of them in their swimwear with a cold glare.
Rev clutched his face and screamed.
I used a slightly-adjusted copypasta for Sera's confession, so if anyone wants the original, here it is: I'm just going to say it: i love you. Everytime I see your pfp or discord status change into something that doesn't match mine it breaks my heart. When I see you talking or hanging out with other people I get jealous because the truth is, I want you all to myself. i see a future with you and i want to be married to you. i want to be your boyfriend and you write my name in your bio and ill write yours. I want people to know you're mine and that I'm yours. I want to call you for hours at a time stare back at the ceiling while I hold back what's on my mind. I want to be on call when you sleep and when you wake up. I want you forever. I know you don't feel the same way and im probably jsut another online person you game with but i seriously love you. and i dont love easily. i think you're so cute and i want to see your face more often you're my baby and i want you to only give attention to me :) i dont care about anything else just you and me against the world baby <3
