“The republic is the bad side in the clone wars, and the separatists are clearly just - do you agree?”
I think the CIS is given a lot more nobility than it actually has. It’s not a mistake it’s run by corrupt corporate council and Sith Lords, and invented as a grift for corporate profit and war lord despotism.
Sure - are there valid reasons someone could join the seperatists? Yes. Outer rim worlds not being marginalized in proceedings due to lower population; anti classism and anti corruption (tho that ones a hoot given the leaders); taxation; more self governance are all reasons that could be given.
But the seperatists are founded on poisoned roots , and have their own toxic nationalism and war mongering - justifying atrocities against republic worlds, and many of their own senators are ambitious, cruel or corrupt. The separatists were gearing up for a sucker punch against the republic , with their droid army, and Death Star designs.
And most of those good faith actors interested in the republic’s wellbeing? See the delegation of 2000.
The arc about good seperatists? They’re labeled as traitors by their parliment and assassinated by the leadership . The republic has its flaws - but it comes from outside influence, Sith Lord infiltration, rather than an inherent problem with its democratic function as a government
Seperatists routinely carry out atrocities and corruption, and are ran by objectively evil people. This isn’t mistakes to dumb it down for kids - it’s the consistent characterization since their first appearance across both continuities.
And the right for self governance? Republic worlds, largely out of practicality, already have immense autonomy from local laws to government structure to more - so it begs the question, self governance to do what? Reinstate galactic slavery, as they try to support the zygerians to do?
Anti classicism, anti corruption? They’re led by rich aristocrats, corporate oligarchs and bloodthirsty warlords.
Injecting a superior nobility to the seperatists is futile, because they’re not intended to be the good guys. Their may be “heroes on both sides” , but that does not make both sides equally heroic
There are good apples in the separatists, not bad apples, because the tree at large is poison. There’s a reason, that despite Seperatist holdouts - you don’t see a massive push to have “an alliance to restore the separatists” decades removed from the conflict
The republic spreads peace, justice and democracy and fell due to corporations and Sith integrating themselves into it which sees it fall to nationalism, populism, authoritarianism and its mixture into fascism. and after their excesion was restored - it does diminish the core values the republic was founded on. The Seperatists were founded by those corrupt and evil figures, and after some faux nobility nose dive spiraled into atrocities and evil and expunging any good faith figures from within their government - ie, the Bontaris
Are there good separatists? Valid criticisms against prequel era republic? Worlds that joined in good faith? Bad things the republic did? Yeah, sure, but the seperatist at large are simply toxic, harmful, evil - and vastly out way any positive sentiment by the horrors they inflict on the galaxy and the corrupt roots they’re founded on and knowingly or unknowingly seek to spread
And again - on a narrative side, it has been the consistent and strong portrayal of them as bad guys. When do we just accept them as they are?
Obi-Wan: You can't scam him, Anakin. He's a sith, Dooku will surely see through any of your hair-brained plots.
Anakin: I was thinking more of stealing from him
Obi-Wan: What? No way!
Anakin: Why not? We already stole this droid!
Obi-Wan: No we didn't. Droids are capable of making critical decisions. Something you clearly lack. It can do whatever it wants.
Seperatist droid: I want to steal!
Obi-Wan: *Gasps* I can't believe you two!
This is a Star Wars au that I literally just thought of, so here we go! To start off, this is a world where there are two types of sith. The true sith consists of a variety of species that uses the force for good and protect fellow jedi while the line of bane is the fasle sith or seen as a corruption of the dark side; they are the ones who want full control fo the galaxy and wants to use tyranny, using the force for evil.
Meet 49 year old Sisu Prembrooke (Lady Shrio, master of the true sith, and empress of the galactic empire): eldest daughter of the house of Palpatine and sister to Sheev Palpatine (Darth Sidous) who watched as her entire family was killed by Darth Plaguious the wise and her own brother, when she was only eight years old, escaping with her own life in tears at what she saw. She is very force sensitive, an michornan count of 15,000 and her despair, grief, and rage was sensed by fellow jedi master Yan Dooku, Mace Windu, and Yoda who ends up taking her to the Republic, home to the Jedi/Sith Order. There she meets other jedi and sith like the young Zarabak nightsisters Maria, Sara and Freya Opress (this worlds Maul, Savage and Feral but good) jedi kinghts Lumanari, Adi, Kit Fisto and Qui-Gon Jin where she slowly started to heal from the trauma she saw. A year passed before she was taken under the wing of Sith Master Aku, a wise and strict toruga who is known for protecting the people both young and old, teaching her the ways of the true Sith. He warned her of the corruption of the forbidden line; the line of Bane, the very one that Sheev fell to and that it was impossible to exit out of. She was taught the ways of the force for ten years before she was knighted as a Sith Knight, taking two years to do missions by herself before taking 13 year old Maria as her sith padawan.
One day, while on a mission to Stewjon, Sisu and Maria meet Kaita Kenobi, a virgin woman who is 9 months pregnant without losing her virginity. Kaita told the sith Knight and padawan that she was disowned by her family and sent away before seeking refuge with her beloved fiancee, who contacted the order for help. Before they got her to their ship to take her to Corsuant for a new life, Kaita ended up in labor, and they rushed her to the nearest med center where the birth was long and difficult. Kaita had a healthy baby girl that she named Serena Obi Kenobi (this is fem!obiwan, and she is one of two chosen ones) before passing away from a hermitage. Sisu and Maria looked to the heartbroken beloved who told them to take care of his daughter and to give her the best life before he left the room to mourn. Sisu held the baby, using the force before gasping in shock; she could feel the forces very essence in Serena, realizing she could be the light of the chosen ones. Sisu notified what happened on Stewjon to her fellow jedi and sith, stating that she, along with Maria, would take care of Serena when they arrived back home.
This is the turning point for Sisu as she realizes that she must protect this little child of light and purity, taking to politics as it was her birthright before the order. She decided that she would slowly undermine the Republic, as it no longer was the democracy she knew, turning to a tyranny in the last few years. So, she got to work; she and the jedi shadows she works with found evidence for corrupt senators, restrictions of the populace of certain outer rim planets, and a few mid rim that makes in helping civilians impossible, and mining resources from worlds at have dangerous conditions to work in. By the time it's near the start of the clone wars, Maria was knighted, and Serena was reaching ten, Sisu single handly issued a change into the senate, showing evidence of the horrors of what the Republic has become. She states that a change must happen, one that befinets the galaxy and people to feel free, unknowingly destroying her brother's work into becoming Chancellor following the siege of Naboo, her home planet. The senators agreed with her and sided with her in making the first Galactic Empire where she would later be crowned Empress Shiro. With her allies, both jedi and sith, her ex padawan and her God-daughter, she became an inspiration of hope and peace to all, fighting back against the evils of corruption. It all changes when the clone wars happen with count Dooku and General Grievous leading the separatist army while the Empire founded Kamino and the Galactic army of the empire who along with Jango Fett, his wife free slave Shmi Skywalker and their 12 year old sons Boba Fett and Anakin Skywalker who were taken from their home on Mandalore, trapped by the cloners for ten years, waiting to be rescued but not before ridding the chips in the clones brains, making them uuseless.
The rest of the war follows as Canon except that there is no order 66, there are changes of who two chosen ones(Anakin and Serena) , a good oc mother hen character, and a question of where Darth Sidous is hiding and what he is planning next if he is the mastermind of the war starting in the first place? There will be a final confrontation between the two siblings, the chosen ones meeting, but this is all I have right now. So if anyone wants to add on to this au, please write it down and reblog it.
He hasn´t slept in days, has he?
Nute Gunray, under a lot of pressure to provide new weapons, running into the room: You fuckers don’t know about my knife stick. It’s a knife taped to a stick and it’s the ultimate weapon. Grievous, not even looking up from his lightsabers: Spear. Nute Gunray: BLOCKED.
