Trump's immigration policy
To those people saying „well just don't cross the border illegaly“, „they are criminals and should be prosecuted“, „separation from children happens if you break the law so suffer consequences“
1) if you had spent at least ¼ of the time on getting legitimate information about the subject as you did complaining about it and being immoral and completly unsympathetic then you would realise that process of being able to come into the USA „legally“ and getting the papers that are needed is extremly long and complicated and most of those people are running from their countries because THEY DON'T FEEL SAFE. They are running away from the horibble life that they were living there and trying to save their children from it. So if somenone is in real danger, poor, hungry and living in unhumane conditions, of course they won't wait for the papers for 10+ years (I understand some of the people who got into the USA legally may have gotten them sooner and I'm not trying to disrespect them in any way, I'm just stating that not everyone coming to the USA is coming from the same background, and had lived the same life, for some it might have been „easier“ or at least less dangerous to wait for the documents required).
other argument that is being used is that „separation and prosecution of illegal immigrants has been happening for years and now we are all blaiming Trump for it“
2) Trump's adminstration uses „zero tolerance policy“ meaning that each and every person that passes the border illegaly will be prosecuted and children will be taken away from them(if they have any). „We have to be safe“, they say, „They are criminals, drug dealers, human traffickers, we have to protect our country.“ Assuming that every person that crosses the border is a serious criminal , instead of maybe trying to do a background check or at least figure it out from the situation(banal exemple: if there is a mother, a father and children with them and they don't have any drugs with them and there is no real reason to assume that they are smuggling drugs or kidnapping those children) is really stupid. That's how Obama's administration dealt with illegal immigrants in most cases. They seprated children only if they figured there was a real threat. And they did prosecute some illegal immigrants but they weren't separated from their children, the families stayed together and waited for the trial. Also for those stating that „why do they come here and put their kids in danger if they know what is going to happen“. At first, no,they didn't know because it hasn't happened before, at least not like that, they weren't that cruel with them. There existed a rule that even though they pass illegaly if they are no threat to people around them they can ask for asylum. I'm not sure if that right still exists or if the adminstration is just completly ignoring it but that's what majority of those immigrants was trying to do. They are not trying to run across the border and see what happens, they are trying to seek asylum at the country borders, which they were legally able to. And secondly, well they must be in really serious danger if they still decide that the best option is to try get into the USA even though they know they might be in risk of being separated from their children. I've seen a lot of people so obliviously asking what is the real threat in those countries they are so hardly trying to flee from, that they know many Mexicans that are living great in their countries and that they don't know what the fuss is about( somehow some people still think that only Mexicans cross the border and not people from all over South America). Well you're living in a bubble if you decide to just ignore the world around you. People are running away from awful, tyrannical governments, drugs, street shoothings at every corner, poverty, living at the borders of the city(have they not heard of favelas?), so if some people are safe great for them, but the majority is still in danger.
3) I'm against comparing tents were they put separated children with Auschwitz and other concentration camps because that is a step too far, since Nazis killed people and children. And it is disrespectful to anybody who has survived it or lost somenone due to Nazis. But comparing Trump's politics and ideology to fascism is complety justified. He is unsimpathetic to anyone who is not white, he is against immigration (come on people he wants to build a fucking wall), in a lot of his statements you can see that he sees women as the inferior gender, he's against anyone who's different from the typical white republican in any way, he chooses to ignore school shootings, black people being killed for nothing and many other problems that don't affect him directly. If you ignore the problem and pretend it's not there, it won't go away and people will not forget. I'm not saying white people aren't being killed but it is a fact that people of other races are in far worse positions even though it is the 21st century. I have kind of gotten away from the topic but there is a connection to immigration: I've seen a lot of people so rudly stating that if there are no immigrants let into the USA then there won't be any crime. That America will finally be free of drugs, street shootings and any other crime they could think of. Well if that isn't rasist I don't know what is. Maybe they are forgetting who is the main consumer of all those drugs-rich white people. They are forgetting that people are running away from their countries so they DON'T become members of gangs, they want a better, more promising future.
4) Trump's adminstration hasn't told the public how exactly are they dealing with separated children, in those tents there are children of all ages, some of them are newborns(how are they feeding them, taking care of them, they shouldn't be away from their mother when they're that young), some of them maybe don't know how to use the toilet, maybe they still use diapers, there is a huge number of problems those kids might face while they're being away from their parents, completly alone, surrounded by other children who are as miserable as them. They are living in communes and conditions that they are living in are on the edge of child abuse. It is child abuse!
Someone has to do something, if people don't stand together to fight for human rights, USA will once again become a place where people aren't really welcome and where no one is really safe.
