Life Shenanigans
The most underrated sense is the olfactory sense. It can be the spark-plug that lights up any and every type of memory. For instance, a couple days ago we lost power in our neighbourhood due to wonderful storms, which led to us lighting up candles. My Mum has a Yankee candle stash that’s down to it’s last 2 candles, one is winter themed titled Evergreen and the other was a Peach Bellini scented candle. She leaned towards the Evergreen one, but I have a slight issue with that particular scented candle, I find it too strong and it’s only a matter of time before I get all nauseous and stuck with a headache. Anyway long story short, candles came in handy, the whole house had an assortment of scented candles lighting it up. Once power was back on and candlelight all extinguished, there was a lingering scent in the air. That scent transported me back to a time & place when I found my safe haven in the most desperate of times. It reminded me of the place I found everlasting love, patience, friendship, peace & happiness. These are moments I can’t re-pay in value or worth, but I know I’m gonna be on the lookout for a way to give back to those that gave me what I needed when I needed it the most.
