March is Women's History Month! To celebrate, we’re honoring the courage of those who insisted women have a voice at the ballot box.
Diane Nash organized the voting rights movement in Selma, including the famous Selma to Montgomery March we remember today. The march attracted national attention when demonstrators were beaten by law enforcement on the Edmund Pettus Bridge, and led to the passage of the Voting Rights Act.
From a young age, Diane dedicated her life to the pursuit of equality and justice. By the time she was leading efforts in Selma, Diane had already helped found the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, lead the Freedom Rides, and organize the March on Washington.
