To my fellow volunteer, I'm off to the library, a safe place, to pick up some Fforde books that I have reserved due to your blog. I hope I am not disappointed. Sincerely, A.
I have recently been made aware of suspicious activity at several libraries in the area, and, as a precaution, I have twisted the arms of several of my most trusted associates to stand guard outside. When you arrive, you will find a tall or short man or woman wearing a sweater that may be striped horizontally or vertically. If he or she hands you a flyer (on pink or green paper) that advertises free tutoring services, leave the do not enter the building, and seek shelter at the nearest gas station. If not, you may enter the library. (If the guard is not there, either you have arrived too late, he or she is sleeping, or he or she has been killed. Enter at your own risk.)
