which of your selfships would be the one you'd most likely meet as a result of a blind date setup? how does the date go? does it even go at all?

Oh my goodness Cher, this is such a great question! I ended up thinking about it on the drive home, and I actually have two potentials for blind date shenanigans if you’ll indulge me…

First up is the one and only Hajime Iwaizumi, athletic trainer (not 27 cause I hc being my age 😋). He is bullied into it by his so-called friends because they are sick of him only living to coach and train, and never having much of a social life. Plus some of them are dumb enough to think that Hajime might ease up on them if he just got laid (they’re wrong). 🤣

We meet up somewhere that I think is neutral territory but turns out to be Onigiri Miya (I don’t learn of the connection until much later). It’s not the most natural of blind dates to start with… mostly because I am immediately intimated by his physique and good looks. Sadly, my self confidence is not the best at the time we meet and he has to do some coaxing to draw me out of my shell, but he does so with a subtle suave conviction that I don’t even notice until it’s far too late and I’m hooked.

He’s easy to talk with, very inquisitive without seeming intrusive and we end the night with Hajime walking me home after refusing to let me call a taxi. I envisage it being a colder season and he offers me his scarf and then his arm for walking and he kisses my cheek on my doorstop.

I am instantly smitten.

Secondly is Hiromi Higuruma because of course it is! 🤣 this is one that almost doesn’t happen at all, but let me stress that it’s not entirely his fault! Hiromi runs late. I start to get cold feet. We bump into each other at the train station, he hurriedly rushing to our meeting point and me having just left there. I knew roughly what he looked like, and the reverse. Queue a big flustered mess where I’m apologising for nearly ditching and he’s profusely apologising for daring to be late.

What seals the deal for us actually making it to a nearby bar for the date is that he doesn’t blame any of his misfortunes on anyone else, he takes full responsibility and I appreciate his honesty. Instead of the dinner we had scheduled, we end up sitting thigh to thigh at the bar round the corner from the train station. It’s packed with commuters but it’s like we are in our own little bubble.

Hiromi makes me laugh like a drain, he’s amazingly easy to talk to and we get a little more tipsy than either of us planned to. The added extra alcohol leads to a bit of a sloppy parting kiss, in which I definitely don’t clutch at the lapels of his overcoat and he definitely doesn’t let his hands wander to my hips… ahem cough cough.

I have so many faves so I’m sorry if this gets long 🫣 in fact I’ll pop it beneath a cut cause I probably answered for too many.

so i am very curious about your kafka selfship!! about how long was it after you were assigned as his support before you guys really started crossing the line? 😏 how did you start to suspect he was interested? and who is more bold with flirtation when you two are on the job?? 🤭🤭

Ah well, Kafka… where do I start? 🤭 Gods I love that man so much. Let’s say that I liked him from the moment we were introduced. I wasn’t on the division providing support for the cadets when he first joined the JAKDF but I met him by quite literally bumping into him in a hallway. He nearly knocked me on my ass, but one hand on my arm saved me and he was so apologetic. Like near sobbing cause he was scared I’d report him or some nonsense. Of course I didn’t and we exchanged names before returning to our duties.

It was about 3 or 4 months later that my assignment was changed (I had been wanting to move and was finally given the chance to prove myself) and that’s where things really kicked off. Kafka remembered me which I was shocked about cause who am I in the grand scheme of things?! He was so enthusiastic to be working with me and he was honestly such a delight given that I was considered a rookie again. It was hard not to fall for his charm, his goofy humour and mostly his big tender heart. He cared… like really cared and who doesn’t love a man that protects his own?

I didn’t so much as suspect he was interested as he started to question why I was getting a bit shy at times, especially when we were alone and I kinda admitted my own interest first. Safe to say it was reciprocated and that first night, alone in the lab past midnight, we shared a very sweet first kiss. He was so giddy afterwards that I had to shush him in the hallways in case we were discovered by higher ups!

As for who is more bold when we’re working… it’s me. Kafka is so easy to fluster and I get a kick out of saying things I absolutely shouldn’t through our ear piece communicators (only when no one else is on our frequency though). I’ve paid for teasing him several times over and I’ll do it again. 😌

Ah Aly, you’re too sweet. Sadly headaches and migraines are a regular occurrence for me and hence my faves have to learn how to cope with me in those times. 🤣

Kakashi is all about quiet time. Absolutely no phone no matter how much I whine. No tv. No screens in general. Low music and dark rooms with the fan on. He’ll bring me my meds and make sure I take follow ups if necessary and he is a big one for hydration so I have a full water bottle at all times. He doesn’t like when I have them and tends to stay by my side like glue.

Kafka is a firm believer in food healing all that ails, except he doesn’t have the best diet or cooking abilities so it’s not like he offering me highly nutritious meals handmade by himself. 🤣 however, he’s not wrong in a way because salt does help so when he comes home with fries and Diet Coke from whatever local fast food chain, it does actually help!
