okay, so this one is tricky because i know eventually he decides to be a teacher, but i donāt think itās anything he actively thinks about until heās in college. like, he knows he loves kids and he loves helping students when tutoring math, but heās not likeĀ āoh, i really wanna teach!ā mike isnāt a person who really focuses on the future, so what he wants to be is just a big ole shrug.
like, he doesnāt even desire leaving hawkins. itās all heās ever known, and heās pretty content with it. so, heās really just not the ambitious type at all. i imagine at first he majors in math because he loves it and also heās likeĀ āwell i can be like... an accountant... or somethingā but after a couple of semesters he realizes that career sounds boringĀ and then like a lightbulb heās like .... oh! i could just teach math!
it helps, too, to think he could be a really dope teacher like mr clarke, cuz he just really loves that guy. thatās also why he chooses middle school as the age range he wants to teach math to!!
ok i donāt know where else to go with this cuz i feel like this is a WHOLE ASS MESS + iām much more focused on mike as a fourteen yr old boy, but this is certainly a headcanon thatās close to my heart.Ā
