#selfish parent

Producers interviewed the son and he said he wished he would have arms so that he could be like everyone else. When mom was interviewed she said: “I know I’m selfish but now I have someone who understands me.”

So... You made a child (who suffers mentally and physically for not having arms) ONLY because YOU wanted someone who is like you and understands you? You made a child knowing perfectly well he can / will inherit your “illness”?

That, my dears, is being horribly selfish parent. If you KNOW your illness can / will be inherited, then the best and wicest choices are: 1. adoption or 2. don’t have kids. You make a child so that you don’t have to suffer alone?

I was supposed to claim my nieces for tax purposes this year. I provided money towards my sister's rent to help keep a roof over their heads, or at least food on the table. Their father didn't give much into that and when he did it was nothing more than $20 here or there. My sister got evicted. Now my sister has been a royal pain (so many reasons so gonna ignore that) but she and him agreed I can claim the girls. I would be taking back the money owed to me from doing so and the $400 she owes my mom and giving her back a return of the rest to get a new place and start over. Well her husband wanted to see the girls for Christmas and she agreed. Thing is, we all thought she had parenting plan in place. So well, what do you know? She does. He promised he would be having a return flight all booked and everything for them as well as sent her tickets for her to see. 

I am learning to be thankful without even meaning to. 

I was talking to this acquaintance and how she was so happy to be able to go to Disneyland and have a short tour around California and New York. I was excited too, but since I know she has a kid, I naturally assumed she was with her. But the disappointing thing was, she wasn't. And her amazing answer to my curious question of why she didn't bring her kid with her, "why would I?" Okay, I am not a parent to probably preach about bringing your kids to wherever, but that is fucking Disneyland. That is like every child's dream. And as a decent parent, if you have the luxury of time and money to make the trip and bring yourself to it, why can you not bring your kid? The worst part is like she is 39 y/o and her kid is like 10. If her child was still a baby, I might probably have accepted but, 10. And there she went, defending herself, that she wasn't able to go to there when she was little, so why do that to your child?
