Since I can’t copy-pasta a reblog of mine about how much Duolingo’s AI SUCKS, here are the links to the resources I use for Japanese learning:
Grammar: Imabi; notebook; pens
Vocab: Anki; Yomitan (a popup dictionary that can make Anki flashcards for you)
Dictionary: Yomitan; Jisho
Handwriting: Anki; genkouyoushi paper (although any kind of gridded paper will work); pens
My personal input: Crunchyroll (costs money) with Jimaku - you’ll have to install Tampermonkey to see the imported subtitles and it’s a pain in the ass, but it’s so helpful for drilling both reading and listening skills at the same time
If you can’t afford a Crunchyroll subscription, I’ve compiled a list of free sources of Japanese input here
And of course, the amazing Discord server I’m in that recommended me these resources and helps me understand concepts I’m having a hard time with (warning: they don’t allow discussion of Duolingo or LLMs on the server)
With the Internet, you can learn most common languages for free, and that’s amazing. Don’t let Duolingo control your journey and steer you wrong! There are all sorts of great resources out there.

At some point I've got to get back into the groove of studying...for some reason I've just completely lost interest or tolerance in the topic. I know it's temporary but it's still weird.
It is an incredibly dry subject tho so I guess I should appreciate that I can find it interesting *ever* considering a lot of people can't.
!!!UPDATE ON NEW GAME PROJECT!!!
Its been a while due to coding struggles and learning everything on the fly. In the video above I added some things as well as features. such as -
New text interaction system. Allowing players to interact with the objects in the game and the player responding.
2 doors that will be levels to other worlds later in the development
Added textures to floor and walls
Made it so it displays the amount of books that have been collected
Added a gem that you can put in the stand (gems will be used to unlocked the doors to the other worldly levels later on)
Added 2 doors (for realms: to be worked on)
Made it so that the text box is disable at the start [After recording of video]
Also added physics picking up system
Biggest issue and slow down was the text speech system. Gave me a lot of issues with text overlapping and not functioning the way I intended to, And seen in the video there was a bug where the text would rerun twice before disabling the text box. That was fixed after recording of the video as well. I Am still working on the game, its just taking me a lot of time with learning unity. But i will keep giving updates on this project..... just might be a little while, lol
