“Juliette, come on!” Noah protested, chasing her down the hallways of Beauxbatons without any regard for how many people were watching them. Merlin, for someone who had been so demure when she’d first introduced herself, the Beauxbatons champion really did have quite the temper on her when something didn’t go her way. 

“What are you so angry about that you’d storm out of dance rehearsals for the Yule Ball like that?” Noah managed to blurt out before she’d stormed further ahead of him, out of earshot once again. But she was probably the first -- and only real -- friend he’d made at this competition, and he’d be damned if he let her vanish into the crowd when something he’d said while they’d been learning the dance moves together had offended her so much.

And then it dawned on him, as she refused to meet his gaze. How she’d only stormed out once he’d mentioned that Chloe would be his escort to the ball. He didn’t know many people, and the former hopeful champion had made an effort to speak to him, moreso than other girls at Beauxbatons. “Is this because of my choice in Yule Ball companions? Because I assure you, if it weren’t frowned upon for two champions to go together, I would have much preferred to ask you.”
